A few months ago, I got deep into a wrist watch obsession. In fact, I got so deep in it that I found myself building my own watches out of vintage kits. Doing so, is of course, incredibly tedious due to the small scale of all the hardware and the tolerances of all the pieces. One of the things that drove me crazy was the relatively long and very fine threads of some of the hardware on vintage movements. I often found myself wishing I had some sort of small power driver.

I dream of having my very own barn someday. There is just something wonderful about an old building built with a purpose in mind. We’ve been over it before… Of course, one of our members in the forum is actually living it.

I had a reader send me this and I dug it… I’ve got one of those little red discs that you put up against the wheel studs to measure bolt patterns, but it’s limited and typically only covers standard American sizes. What do you do if you are into all kinds of cars both foreign and domestic? Easy. Get your ass on over to some place called “Commercial Forms” and get yourself a set of these.

This is pretty brilliant actually. Some German got the bright idea to add a pocket caliper to a really nice pen. The result is something you can carry with you every day. Need some measurements? Easy, break out the calipers on this pen, measure away, and then use the pen to record your findings. I love stuff like this. It runs $27, but who’s counting?
