Looking at doing some work on the wife's car which has some rust around the wheelwells & wondered what the best thing to use to get rid of this is. Looking thru the catalog there is the following roloc discs: bristle discs, grinding discs, surface prep discs, & surface conditioning discs. Which of these do I need to do this? Have a vacation coming up so want to get the rust & rot fixed so that it is done while it's still warm enough to paint it outside.

How bad is the rust? It all depends on how far gone the metal is. Pic?

Most of the time you end up using a cutoff wheel to fix rust. Cutout rust....weld in new metal, finish & paint.

Exactly, but not too practical on a daily driver that isnt of historic or collector value. I am not condoning half ass "bondo" rust repair. If were talking about the very early stages of currosion where the paint is just starting to bubble up, it MAY be just a light surface issue. But chances are, nothing on a die grinder will really fix it. A spot blaster would be much better if the rust pitting isnt so deep that its ruined the area of the panel.

I guess you could start off with a wire brush first (watch those eyes! ) then hit it with a roloc or grinding disc to get it wherer you want it.

I like a knotted wire brush in a 4" grinder.
