There were 2 Shure brand tool cabinets without drawers for sale for the longest time on the local Craig's list. The lack of any of the 21 drawers in ether of them made them worthless as tool boxes as the drawers would cost well more than a complete cabinet. ($4800.00) The 2 went from $1000 to "Please come and get them as I am moving soon OBO" which BTW was my price point.

I cut a section from each one, welded the top 1/2 back to the base and sliced up the cut sections into 4 doors. Used the front skirts as drawer fronts and made 2 drawers from some good 11 ply plywood. Some casters on the bottom and some stainless tubing on the front as a drawer pull, plywood glued to the underside of the tops as deadener and now I have 2 stainless top rolling work benches. Plywood shelves inside using the ajustable drawer guides as holders. One stays put and the other gets a set of locking casters and a vice to replace the roll around unit that went off to a better home. $75 for the two cabinets $75 for plywood some locking casters and small hardware Sold the old work bench to more than cover.

Not only a very good job fabricating the bench, but you also have a very good eye for design -- this is excellent work.

BTW I like the pic of your "helper" -- looks like he's satisfied with "a job well done".
