my Mac tool guy who was my same dealer since i was joined in automotive business like almost 5 years ago. he did sell mac tools to my former independent shop and my employee at chrysler dealership. he still doing for almost 8 years. he did told me that he is going to closing his mac tool business to find other job to work close to his children. i am understand what he want to do with his family.

He said anything in his mac tool truck are 30 percents off. i already bought 1/4dr Round head torque wrench (list for 220 dollars) i paid 152 dollars as it is very new brand and made in USA. i tried to find on ebay and around tool truck but they went over the price what i would pay for it. it is inch lbs torque wrench. i am going to work on transmission as much i can do for chrysler dealership. i had to pull valve body out of transmission to replace the shift sensor, and else... it is require the torque wrench to met the specific or valve body will cause the more transmission problems... i am wondering what can i buy from him when 30 to 40 percents off?? i already have many tools what i had but any idea?? i am try not buy oversea tools from mac tool because mac tool guy said the new guy will start work after new year day which my good mac tool guy will leaving like one month later (which he said on november 14, 2007...

Methinks that 30% is not enough of a deal to buy anything that you don't really need.

As an exceptionally successful (greedy, but successful) friend of mine always sez: the point of all this is for your business to enrich you, not for you to enrich your business.

Things may also get more of a discount closer to his actual last days. Half off isn't unheard of when a guy quits with a truck.

my mac tool guy said 30 percent off anything... i just buy what i really need like 1/4dr torque wrench. but i maybe will waiting until he say 50 or 60 percents off then i may ask for more sockets like super small sockets that shorter than normal shallow socket...

I actually saw a Cornwell truck here the other day. I damn near wrecked my truck, it was like seeing a UFO or Baby Jesus on a bicycle.

I have not seen a Cornwell truck in the state of NJ - up in NY the coffee truck guy switched to a cornwell truck and started selling tools

Got all 4 major tool trucks up around here. 2 snap-on guys, matco, mac, and a cornwell truck. I guess i must live in tool heaven. Then again we are in the middle of nowhere.

Andy,
The super short sockets were buy one get the other free last month in the Mac tools flyer, I picked them up from my dealer. $90.00 for two rails standard and metric. I would wait for that deal to come back around.

I've been at the same shop for 22 years,in that time,I've probably had 7 Snap On guys,3 0r 4 Mac guys,couple Matco....
The one constant had been the Cornwell guy, there every week,no BS about warranty, always willing to let ONE weekly payment slide if you were short, decent guy.
2 years ago,Cornwell corperate pulled his franchise w/a months notice
[I saw the letter]he wasn't doing enough volume for his territory, they split his route in two.
I guess the place I work at didn't warrent a new truck,so a warranty claim for a longtime customer is out of the question.I'll NEVER buy from Cornwell again!
My guy went independant, sells SK,OTC,etc, still doing OK without all the franchise BS.

From what I've noticed, it seems like the tools trucks all have their own crowd they cater to around here. (it's not gospel by any means, but just something I've noticed)

The Cornwell truck seems to frequent the heavy truck places. The Matco guy stops at the gas stations. The Mac tools guy stops at the old independent shops and transmission shops. And the Snap-On guy is normally seen at the stealerships.
