Anyone have one of these? (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00959499000P?sbf=Brand&sbv=Craftsman&vName=Tools&cName=Garage+%26+Tool+Storage&sName=Mobile+Tool+Cabinets) It is part number 59499 in case the link doesn't work.
I have been looking at a clearanced 6 drawer roll-away cabinet but am wondering if this mobile tool cabinet might better fit the bill. However neither of my local Sears stores have it in stock, so I am a little hesitant to buy it sight unseen. They do have a cheaper one on display and the plastic top is rather cheap looking, which makes me wonder how well it will hold up. If in fact it is the same top that is on the $400 model.
Anyway, just wondering if anyone has either seen or owns this mobile tool cabinet.
Thanks,
Scott

I bought a smaller box, Width: 26 1/2 in. Depth: 18 in. Height: 40 3/4 in., and kind of wish it was wider and deeper like this one, Width: 38 in. Depth: 23-1/4 in. Height: 37-1/2 in., but mine has 11 drawers (4 are top 2 split) and I like the shallow drawers for laying out many of my tools. Does the layout of this box fit the way you want to arrange your tools?
Just guessing, but won't the best time of the year to buy a box be after Xmas?
I have a similar size older style Craftsman mobile tool cabinet that has a steel covered sliding work top. It is nice but I never keep anything in the small parts storage area under the work top. In my garage the horizontal surfaces tend to be covered with tools/parts/junk/treasure at all times. There is no way I am going to clear off the top every time I need something from inside.

Thanks for the replies, guys.
I kind of like some of the features of the mobile tool cabinet, but how often am I really going to roll it a few feet to whatever project I am working on at the time. Dunno, might be quite often once I see how handy it might be.
On the down side, it only has 5 drawers compared to the 6 on the clearance roll-away that I am also considering. And I think the height of the drawers on the roll-away are probably more suited for my storage needs.
The measurements of the two units is sort of deceiving because I believe the mobile unit is counting the plastic shelves on either side of the actual cabinet as part of the width measurement. The roll-away is ~3.5" taller, but ~5" shallower (less deep).
Actually, I believe that I am over thinking this whole thing. Basically I need a place to store a few tools at my rental hobby shop. There is a little more to it than that, but what it comes down to is I need a place to store some tools, take down a shelving unit & free up some wall space for my unboxed wall cabinet. Heck that shouldn't cost more than $400 - right?:headscrat
The clearance model roll-away it is. Now I hope they still have one in stock. :lol_hitti

Why not buy a regular rolling box or a used one? Slap a metal or butcher block top on it and screw a power strip to the back?
I'm thinking it would be nice to stumble into a deal on a couple roller boxes to use as the sides to one more workbench, even if they were the quietglide type it'd be nice for office, random tool, bits and pieces storage.
This combo at sears:

will be on sale for 50% off on black friday apparently

One of the features of a roll around is that its not just tool storage, its a work surface. You can roll it to the job, or put the job on top and roll the whole thing out of the way to do something else. Having a lock isn't a bad feature either.

The thing is covered in plastic doodads. Eeeww.
Take the plastic crap off, and it would be a regular mobile tool chest...and probably $100 cheaper.

I concur. Cheapo plastic crap versus 304 stainless steel.:dunno: The stainless roll-away won out. I talked them down another 5% which pays for the sales tax and will pick it up Friday.
My new roll-away is no longer on the Sears website, but a similar model is. (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00995106000P?filter=Cabinet+Color%7C Stainless+Steel&vName=Tools&cName=Garage+%26+Tool+Storage&sName=Chests+%26+Cabinets)
Now to get another piece of my shop organized.
And thanks for listening to me yammer on about this. As I said earlier, I was making this too difficult. Just needed to write it down, & hear you guys, in order to figure it out. Thanks again.

A little different, but I recently purchased this tool cart. I got it on sale for $202 and free shipping last week. I am actually waiting for UPS to drop it off right now.

Craftsman does strange things with the name storage cabinet.
My wife picked up one of these four drawer ‘cabinets’
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00959220000P?vName=Tools&cName=Garage+%26+Tool+Storage&sName=Garage+Organization
Which is just a simple homeowners rollaway with different drawer handles and the lock on the side (plus a nifty ‘door mat’ on the top.
She then gave it to my sister who put a tool box on it and is using it for a rollaway.
In was obviously made on the same line as a rollaway.
She then picked up a 5 drawer home storage cabinet;
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00959130000P?
Which is not built like a rollaway. You could use it as one, and she has a couple intermediate boxes on top of it, but it’s defiantly a purpose built cabinet.
It’s much wider than it looks in the pictures.
She uses it for her camera stuff.
On tool carts I just picked up a ‘scratch and ding’ one of these;
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00959355000P?vName=Tools&cName=Garage+%26+Tool+Storage&sName=Utility+Carts
It wasn’t scratched or dinged, hadn’t been assembled. It was cheap, so I got it. Took it home and went to put it together and on one of the chrome square tube sides there were NO HOLES!:eyecrazy:
Supposed to be six holes drilled through it, there were none.
Sorta explains why it was returned…
My drill press fixed that in five minutes and it’s actually a pretty good cart.
