This stuff has taken up most of my tool budget lately. First, my old workhorse Edwards trombone that I've had since college:

And my new Monette TT5 mouthpiece:

and the new TT5 with a Greg Black 5G:

Cool. My dad had a trombone. All I could do was make dying caribou noises with it, though.
I was formally trained on the accordion, but hated every minute of it. I more recently have been entertaining the fantasy that I might be able to learn to play a guitar.

Trust me, you can. I am taking a jazz-based guitar class right now through a local community college. Most of teh people in the class don't even read music - and yet we have some fun playing together.

Next time you take a photo of something shiny, you might want to put some clothes on...

Dayum... I didn't even catch that. My wifey was looking over my shoulder laughing her arse off!
Check out the Monette shop video tour... shows the production of the mouthpieces and instruments (made, of course in the USA - Portland OR). I really dig how they put the trumpets together without the use of any jigs....

I think the biggest problem I have is that I can read music. Trying to unlearn that to read "tabs" is difficult. That, and the fact I have smashed my knuckles so many times my fingers have trouble contorting to the frets.

I couldnt carry a tune if it was wrappped up and packaged for me in wheelbarrow..but ya gotta admire the craftsmanship that goes into building any musical instrument. Neat Stuff.

Wow, I never thought I'd see another trombone player on an automotive or tool related forum! I haven't posted much, but I've been lurking here for awhile. I thought it was great that your user title was "director of bands" (or something like that). Do you play much anymore?
My primary instrument used to be an old Edwards (bought it back when Steve Shires was running the company) - I even had the Bach weight on it (though I did use an Edwards slide). Now I do all of my work on period instruments so the Edwards only comes out for teaching.
Anyway, nice tools :D
