I "bought in" at Sears yesterday. A buddy of mine was telling me about the deals on Gear wrench, so I went to take a look. I ended up with a 10 pc set of std & mm Gear Wrenches for $40 each, a 10 pc stubby set of std & mm Gear Wrenches for $30 each, the next 4 sizes up std & mm Gear Wrenches for $45 each, the Craftsman 80th anniversary addition 3pc ratchet set for $60 and the 3pc Craftsman pry bar set for $40. Grand total of close to $350. Merry Christmas to me!
I also picked up some sweet Craftsman quick grip style clamps for work for $10 each.

Nice! My only suggestion would be to take the standard pry bars back in exchange for the Pro pry bars. They often go on sale for $30-$40 and are nicer than the standards.

Right. The standard pry bars have been $19.99 a couple times in the past month and the pro's $29.99. Not sure what the diff between the standard and the pro's are other than the grips (my store doesn't stock the pro's :( )

The grips and also the metal cap on the end. The actual bar is the same I believe.

Um, these are the Pros. I didn't say professional because I didn't see any standards. Yeah, so Pros were on sale for $40.
Oh and here is a link to the ratchet set.
This was $80 and the web site shows them at $98 down from $109.99 Woo Hoo! Go me! I needed new ratchets because my Crap-On 1/4" & 3/8" are broken, and I have had no luck getting anyone to fix/replace them because I am no longer viewed as a valued customer because I am now a hobbiest instead of a professional. Keep this in mind when you are choosing your tools.

The very reason I avoided tool truck brands when I purchased my ratchets. I was afraid of that. Of course, I was NEVER viewed as a valued customer or professional so I would have no chance. I don't think a tool truck will ever get my business since I can't get the stuff replaced. A shame really.

That would be nice. Let me see if I can round them up. I think they are in the broken tools bin.

You can beat on the end of the pro's with a hammer if needed. Try that with standards and the handle will split and break off.

Pry bars do tend to need some coaxing too, nothing like a whack on the end to do it.

Well you can always bring them back if the handle breaks. I have beat pretty hard on Craftsman screwdrivers and never broke one.

i had both craftsman standard and craftsman professional pry bar set... i always pick the craftsman professional pry bar because i can beat and hammer on it... the craftsman standard pry bars are good to do pry or trying to hold on... i dont want make too many trips to sears for the warranty... use common sense to use right tools...

I got a visa gift certificate for $75 so I went to lowe's and bought $75 worth of Vise grips too. I already have a good amount, but I never seem to have the pair I'm looking for handy. So $75 only gets me 6 pairs, but there is nothing close to the (Irwin) Vise grip quality. I got two large, two medium, a small, and a small needle nose. I already have 6 pairs of welding clamps and muliples of all the others.

Last year at Christmas I bought $350 worth of New Craftsman sockets with my name laser-etched on every one of them, all new Craftsman Pro screw drivers including the odd ones that don't come in the set, and 11 pairs of Stanley Professional pliers.
