This was from the 4 piece sets they had for $15 earlier this summer that we all went out and got. I was using it to put together my Christmas present, a Schumacher Elite SE-40225 Wheeled Battery Charger that we picked up at Sam's Saturday for $93 & change. You have to put the foot on as well as the wheels and the handle.
The foot uses some 3/8" sheet metal screws that tap into predrilled holes in the bottom of the case, we're not talking about 80 ft/lbs here. I'm using the wrench, go the first one started and working on the second one before I tightened the first one down and I thought I just got it cocked and it all fell out and I see this weird looking black spacer. :headscrat It's got 12 points on the inside and the edges are raised on the outside with the center depressed a little. I'm trying to figure out where this fell off the charger and figure I'll get the foot screwed on and figure it out after that. I put the screw on and go to put the wrench on and the wrench slipped right over the screw :wtf: and then I notice that the center is gone and that's what the little black spacer is. :shocking:
I found the paw with a spring on it and a spring clip that is 3/4" of a circle, but only the one. I hadn't even put any torque on the second one, I was just starting it and it fell apart. I guess I'll take it to the store after Christmas to see what they can do.

Yea, I had the back slip out of a gearwrench too. Mine didn't come apart completely like yours though. I called gearwrench who told me to take it to Sears. Since Sears carried singles of the model wrench I was replacing, they'd do the exchange on the spot, craftsman style. I was told if it was a model sears didn't stock by the single, gear wrench would mail me a replacement.

Take it to Sears or NAPA or Lowes and you should be able to get it exchanged.

If it is like the ones I bought on sale for $9.99, it says "GearWrench" on one side and "ACE Professional" on the other.

Yeah, it's the ones we got at Ace that say Ace Professional on them. I'll try Ace first, then contact GearWrench. Just didn't know if anyone else had problems with them.

I have had a problem with some of my Gearwrench's getting "stuck". They won't turn/ratchet. You have to bang them on something to get them unstuck.

I went by Ace tonight, told the assistant manager about it, he asked if I still had the plastic holder they came on, I said yes, he said bring 'em in and we'll swap 'em out. I also check to make sure they had some on the shelf and they did.

So I take it back today and while I'm standing, waiting for the manager to come help me, I flip the package over and notice on the back, "Manufactured in Taiwan for Danaher Tool Group, Sparks, Maryland 21152 USA (copyright) 2006".
Above that is the Ace Promise Satisfaction Guaranteed, "Lifetime Warranty If this Ace product when used for its intended purpose, fails to give you complete satisfaction, return the item to the Ace Hardware store where purchased for free replacement of the same or similar item".
As I posted right above this, they had the same thing on the shelf, but he brought me back a single. He said since only the one was damaged, he'd just replace it with the single. I took the single out of the package, tearing it in the process to snap it into my old package. The new wrench is narrower and thinner at the beam and doesn't snap in tight in the holder. Also, on the side where 'Ace Professional' is stamped, all other wrenches have their sizes stamped either side of the words Ace Professional, on this one, '3/8' is stamped before, but 'Taiwan' was stamped after. Then I flipped the single package over and it said 'Made in Taiwan', but not for Danaher. I just took it out of the package and can flex the beam.

Hmmm.... don't accept it. but at this point you may have to mail it to Danaher.

Man, that sucks ... just like on a 3/8" laser Craftsman set, both the 19 mm and 7/8 was defective (would not fit onto the ratchet) and the replacement sockets look different (old laser sockets has round box around size and new has square box) ...

Too late :( I already accepted it.
I may take it back and show him how easy the beam bends, or just bend it a bit and take it back and get the whole set. I mean I can bend it with my thumbs....
