I am doing some prep work on bare metal. What is the best way to prep so I don't leave any lint on my sheetmetal?

microfiber cloths are NOT lint free. purchase some tack rags where you buy your body / paint supplies.

Yes. Tack rags!

Is that kinda like chees cloth? Can I use solvents on the bare metal and wipe it up with the tack rags?

No, nothing goes on the tac cloth other than the pine tar the factory put on it. You can use a regular rag with solvent then, after it drys, go over it again with the tac rag. If the surface is very rough, some lint will be left behind. On rough metal, I put presol into a spraygun and spray the oil/dirt off and let it drip dry, so no lint is left behind.

If the metal is clean and smooth, the lint will come right off with compressed air (or a tack rag). If it is rough enough to snag lint, it might benefit from a rub down with a pad of ScotchBrite...

No cloth is lint free. After your done quickly run a torch over the parts it will burn away any lint that is left. I do that as a last step before powdercoating. Works great.

A tack rag is the final; step to remove any lint. But they do make a paper towel that you can get at the jobbers that is used with your wax / grease remover and has very little lint.
