Apparently, some people claim that main line Snap On tools sold overseas are made in Taiwan instead of the USA. Anyone heard of this?

I highly doubt it. I bet they charge more for them retail though. I remember some English man was complaining they *really* up the price.

i think he was refering to the blue point line not snap on.

There are no Snap on branded hand tools made for export other than their Williams and Bahco lines. There may be confusion over the recently redesigned Blue Point line. The Blue point line of hand tools has expanded offering a basic selection of Taiwan made ratchets, socket, and wrenches that are alot cheaper than Snap on branded version. The Blue Point tools even come with a lifetime warranty now. I hope and pray that the two lines shall never merge. The Blue Point stuff offers a tech a cheaper option.

I'm not sure I understand you correctly - do you mean there are no Snap-on tools made specifically for export, differing from those sold in the US ?

If that's it, afaik, you're right. Snap on plain wrenches, sockets, and ratchets (seemingly the only tools Snap-on regards as 'hand tools' :spit: ) sold in the UK are identical to those sold in the US and are all US made.

I should bloody well hope so, too, as, for example, a 6pt general service set magically goes from $189 to £161 ($315) on its journey across the Atlantic

There is a snap on eurotools division in Europe. I had a Snap-On branded 1/2 ratchet that was nothing but a rebranded Facom one.

I'll happily stand corrected, but I believe the Snap-on Eurotools brand has been ditched in favour of Irimo, Acesa, Palmera, and Irazola. There are numerous Snap-on brands that are only sold in their home regions.

Snap-on Eurotools were labelled thus, not simply as 'Snap-on'.
