Just got an email from TheToolWarehouse.net with these offers. I am considering the first 4 listed. Thoughts and opinions on quality and prices would be appreciated. Also considering buying a Mac tool box as pictured below. What would be a good deal on it. Seller is asking $400

I have a basic Craftsman tool set up but am wanting to buy more tools geared to restoring a couple of old Buicks. Any help will be appreciated

Mac Tool Box Description
Very nice, slightly older Mac Tools 10 drawer roll cab tool box. I just upgraded to a bigger Snap On box, and don't have the room to keep this one. It has friction slide drawers (no ball bearings), but they are super heavy duty and smooth as glass. When I bought it, I took all the drawers out and cleaned and lubed everything. Large bottom drawer has double slides for extra load carrying ability. I have the key, and the lock works as it should. Casters still in good shape. Some scrapes and dings, but the box is still functionally perfect. Again, no issues. Nice drawer liners and top mat. Cool Snap On sticker is included at no charge.

You can get the IR 301 angle grinder for $50 any day at sears, and 10-15% off right now depending on if you spend over $350.

I'd keep an eye on them on ebay. I think they were on sale at Sears recently for around 30 bucks.

In the thread here on where tools are made, I think they said IR standard stuff was made in China. I figured that meant the 301, but I can't prove it , just my guess.

Good luck

Some of those prices are a bit inflated. For example, the shop towels go for $2 a roll or less - 30 for $70 is more costly than buying them separately.

The Bondhus balldriver set can be had for less than $20 on sale sometimes, and $25 is a relatively common price for them - no deal there.

The Channellock 5 piece kit retails for $63 at several retailers. $64.75 is no bargain.

The Ingersoll Rand impact wrench set retails for $115-$125. $117 isn't much of a sale.

The IR air angle die grinder without kit retails for $50 at a few places as well, a bit more for the one with the accessory kit. Not much of a sale there.

I don't know anything about this retailer having never heard or used them before, but it seems as though their "sale" items aren't really on sale. In your shoes, I'd only consider buying these products from them if their shipping fees were really low. If I were you I'd shop around a bit more.

I got the same email from thetoolwarehouse.net and their version of retail costs are much higher than you quoted.... for example their IR 231C kit goes for $223.89... so $117 seems like a deal. But, I agree with Stuey - I think you can do better if you shop around.

I got the same email ... it's their everyday low price ... not really a sale like they make it out to be ...

Tooltopia does the same thing too. They send out emails advertising their sale price but in reality, it's their everyday discounted price. They do reduce free shipping order amounts at times though. Shop around, sometimes sales aren't as good as they claim to be.

Thanks guys...OK, I'll keep shopping. No hurry anyway. I really need a nice top and bottom box to begin with. Any thoughts on the value of this one. He was asking 400, I offered 200, he countered with 300. I think I'll hold out at 2....? Mac Tool Box Description

I have used TheToolWarehouse.net several times. While they always say the tools are on "sale" their prices are competitive and over $99 is free shipping. They have a large selection and shipping is fast.

They compared their prices to the manufacturer's list prices. The list prices are just fantasy prices that the manufacturers use to make us feel like we are getting a deal. Nobody actually pays near list for power tools anymore.

Sounds a lot like Amazon. They take a tool with an MSRP of $100, give it a list price of $168, slash that and offer it for $99.99 and many people jump at the "bargain."

Looks like I'll be heading to Lawrenceville tomorrow to pick up the Mack bottom chest. come to find out the seller had listed it here in the GJ classifieds in addition to CL. Ended up giving the 300 but we're both happy and that's what counts. :bounce:
