Guys,
What are your thoughts about using a pellet stove for the primary heat source in a 24x26 detached garage.
Thanks,
RK

What exactly is a pellet stove? Do you lay rock down over a fire to generate the heat or what exactly???

I could be wrong, but these stoves burn "pellet" made of something, no?
Whats wrong with a space heater or a contractor size space heater....something you can just leave and not have to worry about

When I lived in Cali, a lot of people had pellet stoves. Since I moved to Michigan I haven't even heard of them....must not be very good for colder weather.

I think they provide great heat. The pellets are a bi-product. The stoves themselves are pretty exspensive here in KS. about 1200.00. A wood stove cost mabe 1/2 that. I was lucky a friend gave me his wood stove. I plan to put it in my garge for heat this winter.

If you can find pellet stoves for $1200, you ought to buy a truckload of them and sell 'em up here in MN...

In a similar vein, a guy I work with has a corn burner. Works just like a wood pellet stove, but uses dried corn. Works great!
