http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/SUN-8008.html I saw these, they are asain made, but only ones I have ever seen besides snap on. Meant to fit onto the side of a toolbox or tool cart, but im sure it could be modified. locking too.. pretty cool

Yeah... One of these days I plan to get a tool cart... one with one or two draws on the bottom and a work surface on top... and one of these would be nice

The only thing is my screwdrivers are really excellent quality and I dont know if I want them out of the tool chest

Yeah thats true, but its only your house... I mean its not a shop where they might walk away on ya. I really like rolling work carts, because if you need to do a smaller job you can stick a few sets of sockets and wrenches on them and avoid the 9 million trips to the toolbox.

Jim
That is why you get the magnet bowl or tray instead of pushing the cart all around

Yeah, Ive got two of the double magnets from sears... I like them, but even still, a tool cart would be nice. On that website I posted they have one thats kinda like a tool "tray" which is also pretty cool

Jim
What is the point though unless you can get under a lift....kinda hard to use a roll around if your underneath a car with no lift

Yeah thats true. My friends dad has somethin thats pretty cool. He used a creeper frame and made a sheetmetal tray for it so he can roll a tray under a car with him. I really want one but I can exactl tig aluminum

No, I have no intentions of becoming a mechanic, Im looking towards mechanical engineering. Ive been taking autoshop because Its a nice easy period for me during the day, and I pick up some stuff along the way. Id rather bench bleed a master cylinder than learn about censorship in ww1 or something like that.

Well yea of course...that is why I filled up my school days with business classes man.....but still....go to a machine shop and be some guys pee-on for awhile and let him teach you how to weld

AHAH! I already tried that. I went into 4 different machine shops and spoke with the owners about me sweeping floors and that sort of thing in exchange for some lessons on non cnc equipment every once ina while. All 4 of the owners said they would love to teach me how to operate the machines, but they cant legally employ me because I am not 18 yet...
Lets think about this.... I can work in mcdonals or burger king over a deep frier full of hot oil, but I cant work in a machine shop under close supervision, most of the time not even using machines.
WTF?!?!?!? Thanks NJ!

Well I got lucky. The dis-banded the metal shop this year, because they wanted to turn it into a wrestling room. Luckily, We made space in the autoshop for the Bridgeport, one of the lathes, a few baldor grinders, and various sheet metal stuff, so i get to play around on them (under supervision of course lol) Whatever experience I can get is great.
Jim
Whatever you just said....most likely tools for welding....I dont understand hahahaa

bridgeport is a brand for a verticle mill... Non cnc/dro... its oldschool but still awesome. And a lathe, you know what that is lol. This year I also took CAD 1, I figured, CAD is a vital part of industry today, so why not get a good head start.

lol Stupid core classes... Im required to take phys ed... now dont you think taking a class like autos 1 where they teach the basic operations of a car and how to check fluid and change a flat would be a much better required class? In germany, when you go for a license, you go through courses on this sort of thing.

Yea well you could of taken phys ed during the summer and that would of freed up things....personally I think business classes should be mandatory

Back to the screwdriver rack. I took a two foot long piece of 2x2, drill holes through it and screwed it to my pegboard. Then just dropped the screwdrivers in the holes I drilled in it. Holds 15 screwdrivers and spaces them away from the wall, plus the 2x2 was a piece of scrap.

Yea I thought about doing something like that.....but I was looking for a rack in a plastic material which will hold up longer down the road

dink, my dad also made one like I described. Actually I got the idea from him. His has been attached to the wall of his shop for over 20 years now. It has held up real good.
