Got a new backflow preventor for my compressor, couldnt be happier.

Old to the left, new to the right.

No more 3/8 inch pipe in there. DEFINATE diference. Flow is so much better. Got from 0 to 80 PSI in like 4 minutes. I think thats pretty good considering the tank is about 120 gallons. I was expecting 40 PSI in that time frame when I unpluged it to check for leaks. Runs cooler now, its not trying to force all that air threw small holes. Plus the backflow preventor works, unlike the old one. All I need now is a air filter/housing that will screw onto a 3/4inch nipple and two new belts for the pulleys. Anyone know where I can find a filter/housing like that?

Id be careful how much money im puttin inot taht thing. Its hugely inefficient because its not an air pump>>>>>not as efficent as an air pump.

Its seriously kicking ass though. I can run my DA all day with no problem at all, and that was with the old backflow preventer. I'm getting like double the flow now.

Thats awesome... do you have access to aflow meter so you can calculate CFM?

No, are they expensive?

I want to clarify something in my brain...the backflow thingy keeps air from coming back into the tank through that one line correct??? Sorry I know nothing about compressors

Its just a check-valve right? So air can flow into the tank from the compressor but can't flow backwards once the compressor stops pumping.

Yeah. So that way there isnt 110 PSI pushing on the pump while its trying to work. With no backflow preventer at all the motor really labors trying to turn the pump.
