Can someone answer a quick question? Please!!!!

How thick is the mortar used for installing 12x12 terracotta tile outdoors? Thick as in deep from sub-straight to bottom of tile.

I suspect it will depend on what kind/brand of mortar you use. Most likely 1/4 to 3/8" for most thinsets.

1/4 or 3/8 notched trowel.

Depends on the tile. If they are really warped some times you have to use an 1/2" notch trowel. Many are hand made and rough. I would start with a 3/8" notch and see if they bottom out. Push them into the thinset good and you will feel if they hit.
