found some wrenches today...

I was at one of my local Worldwide Liquidators stores today, used to be Cummins. There was a new box of loose combination wrenches on a bottom shelf that I picked through. None of the wrenches had prices marked, so I picked up the following:
Proto long pattern combination wrenches, 10MM to 23MM, except the 22MM, which I couldn't find. The manager sheepishly asked if I would pay $2 for smaller wrenches, $3 for mediums, and $5 for the biggest ones. I sighed, said that would be fine if that's the best he could do...$40 for the whole shebang.

They had some Easco too, but mainly duplicates...lots of open end 17-19 wrenches, and some other odds-and-ends. I think I did OK, all things considered.

For proto that is a very good price!!!!! Good Deal.
But we need pics!!!!! lol

I have to wait until my bride goes to bed, if she sees a whole box of wrenches she'll hit me with one of them.

I think I may have gotten the only largely-complete set, there were several 10,11 and 13MM's but very just odds and ends other than that...there were some Allen and Challenger in there too, along with no-name Chinese, no-name Taiwanese and Stanley. The box next to this one had the bigger wrenches, 24-30MM, but they were $12.95 each and I don't have a burning need for bigger wrenches. Lots of Easco in the big-wrench box.

One thing that struck me is that the letering on these is really small,even the proto name is in a relatively small font.

I've noticed that too, on all the Proto stuff I have gotten; the lettering is very small! The tools always (from a design point of view) seem very "understated" ;with small lettering and very "unfancy" (if there is such a word) logo/fonts. The lettering is sans serif and without any scripts or typically any slanted lettering. Maybe it says something about their market/branding; protos online history seem to relate that they supplied heavy industry and auto manufacturing; possibly less of a reason to "toot their horn" in those markets, compared to say...Snap-On!
