And picked me up some, uh, birthday presents

Our Snap On dealer has a rather large franchise and was able to offer the MG725 impact guns for $329. So, I ordered one... should be in next week. Full report will follow.... Oh, and an impact extension (snap ring style for some reason) to go with the new gun. My Taiwanese extensions look like some sort of weird species of mushrooms by now.

And then there was this. As you all know, I am a musician/teacher - a band director. I cannot count the number of times I have needed to fix or tighten something on the fly. I already have a set of tiny tools for fixing instruments, but then there are music stands, percussion equipment, etc. So, I picked one of these up to throw in my bag:

Between that, my small stuff and the pair of 7" Knipex Alligator pliers that I keep on me, I should be pretty well set.

I compared the Snap On to a similar Klein model I keep in one of the cars - the quality difference is actually pretty remarkable. The bits are comparable, but the handles and the receivers are night and day. For about $20, the SDDD101 is a decent thing to have around

Happy Birthday!

I’d say you came away pretty much unscaved. Looking forward to the report on the MG725 impact wrench.

You always have to buy a little gadget from the truck when you order something big and can't take it home that day ;) Can't walk off empty handed right!! Happy B day by the way. I also got to step on the truck for fathers day, report coming up ;)

I'm actually surprised about the price of $20.55; not too bad for Snap-On! I would like one of those; they still have the old handle (which I prefer)! I wonder how long that will last before it goes instinct; if you want one get it before it changes!

That does look like a quality version of a handy tool...does it "self store" the "bits"?...in the handle? Thanks...Tom R

All the bits go into 2 subsections (2 bits per sebsection), the two subsections go into the the chrome shaft and hold everything together.

Not that much smaller, but you can definitely tell a weight difference. It has the same features as the XT7100. It's just about as loud, except more powerful.

What he said.

I will have to answer all questions about the 725 when I get it in a week or so. I just wanted to be sure to get my order in at the $329 price...

Happy Birthday ...

Yeah, I do have to get a "kid-proof" acoustic this summer.... for when I am teaching at the elementary school at the end of the day. I think that if I go in there with an LTD M-100 (with EMG-81s) and a Marshall half stack, I might just scare the shit out of some little kid. Literally.

I don't like the snap on impacts, too loud, ever since I got my hand on an IR quiet gun I am never turning back.

Happy B-day

Damm, another Item added to my wishlist:drool: My old trusty IR has seen better days....

Why so long? When I order stuff from my Snappy guy and it's not on the truck I get it from the NJ central warehouse (free shipping) in two days....

Because I will be in and out of town... it will actually probably be waiting for me at the shop when I get back. Besides, I don't really need it today for anything... I can be a little patient! (yeah... riiiiight)
