So I've been quietly assembling a set of "blue" Snap On hard plastic screwdrivers. Mostly for my own amusement.. anyways. So I purchased some stuff off ebay the other day including some blue handled screwdrivers. One was a "set" of 5 drivers from one seller.. two of the handles were pretty farked up from some sort of chemical or something.. which I knew. However the seller didn't mention (nor did the photo show) that one blade (#1 phillips) was bent. Not a huge deal as I can get my S/O guy to replace it. Then I purchased a #3 phillips off another seller. Now this is where it gets weird. This handle is in great shape.. however it simply says Snap-On USA on it. No part/tool #, etc. Then on the back where it normally says "Warning not a punch or a prybar" it simply says "wear saftey goggles. I sold the few S/O prybars I had a few years ago and went with a complete set of new Cornwell's so I don't have one to compare it with.. but me thinks the #3 is actually using a prybar handle (also the handle is larger than it should be I'd say). Ugh... Oh well. I guess I'll just use these as some sort of display or something. I wasn't really planning on using them to work with so much (already have a set of orange handles)... just annoying.
I did pick up a few long pattern Mac wrenches to fill in on a set I've been building (yes I could just buy a complete set but its kind of the thrill of the hunt on this set as I don't "need" them)... pretty close to a complete working set. Need a 17, 16 & 13mm and I'll be there. I haven't had much use for a 11mm so I'm omitting that one.. and I might pick up a 8mm just for the sake of having one..
Pics of said goodies..

What do you guys do in this situation?
Do you just leave bad feedback?....partial refund?....

With the new feedback system, the buyer has the upper hand. Send an email to the seller complaining, be fair and polite, and clearly state that the item is not worth what it would have been had it been described properly, and see if they offer a partial refund before demanding one. If they get cocky about it, then kindly remind them that you would hate to have to reflect on the situation in your feedback (sellers can no longer leave negative feedback for a buyer!).

I don't know what I'll do. The bent blade wasn't disclosed in the auction and really not visible in the pics. However its easily (for me) warrantied just a hassle. The other one is hard to say... W-cummins says it could be a replacement handle but my vote is on it being a prybar handle since it doesn't have the "not a punch or prybar" warning and simply "use saftey goggles" which is how most all of my S/O punches, etc are labeled. So do I leave negative feedback? Nah.. I doubt the seller really new.. or its hard to prove. Technically it is a screwdriver. I'll either leave nuetral or leave positive with a note. Not really worth messing with over a few $$.

You're right, I doubt most people would have noticed the different handle. But the bent screwdriver, come on now!! There is no excuse for not disclosing that. Makes me glad I don't really buy from Ebay. I would leave nuetral with a note.
Edit: I really really like those blue handles BTW

Did you see a picture of the one with the odd handle on Ebay?
Ever ask to see the other side (or ask what was on it?).
I have enough people in my family, who think a screwdriver is a screwdriver, and only know that people like Snap~on, without knowing why (or any particular brand). You would have to look at their list of other auctions, to see if they are a regular tool seller (who should know better), or Harry the homeowner.
Heck, my brother in law, gave me some "wrench", that he bought a three pack, off of Woot, that went straight into my garage sale stuff (didn't want to put it in the trash in front of him).:lol_hitti

The odd handle was in a seperate auction on its own.. simply listed as a Snap On #3 phillips screwdriver. The photo wasn't clear enough to really see that it didn't say the part #, etc.. I probably mentally chalked it up as just a worn logo. Oh well.. they did disclose the corrosion on the blade so I kinda am assuming they just didn't "know". No biggy really.. I'll live.
The bent blade does have me a little irked as it was not described or mentioned in the auction at all. The photo was at such an angle that you couldn't tell it was bent either. Kinda slimy if you ask me. Most people will say "hey broken tip or bent tip, etc.. bid at your own discretion" I still got them pretty dirty cheap compared to what blue stuff sells for.
64Merc, The blue handles are certainly something I went for.. I own some orange handles and I just wanted to pick up a set of blue ones for display or something. I dunno.. call me geeky! haha.

Somebody has to educate the seller, it should be you.

Thats a valid point.. I'll send them some nice friendly "educational" emails. If anything it'll help hopefully create more educated sellers.

That's a replacement handle. They don't have part numbers on them. I have a 1/4" spinner handle with an orange replacement handle, no part number on it. It's not the wrong handle, i have the same one with a black handle and mine has the same size handle too.

I told him he had a bad description and informed him I would not have bought these if they had a accurate description. I did not ask for money back nor did I give him bad feedback. He said they were in perfect condition, so I thought they were just greasy.

Thanks for that, now REALLY STUPID question.
I have a few Snap~on Screwdrivers, given to me by a friend, after his father in law (another friend) passed away. (before his kids ended up hocking them.)
One has the old cracked handle (from a time frame when they had a problem from what I read), I need a replacement handle, and no driver (dealer).
Got a part number for their website?
Thanks

I don't know if you can get a replacement handle via the website. A dealer can get you a replacement in this style, but it'll probably take a week or two for it to arrive.
Give me the part number, i'll talk to my Snap-on dealer and ask him if he can get one.

Thanks for the input! Ok so I guess my biggest beef is with the guy (and was anyways) who sold me the one w/ a bent blade without mentioning it first. I would've bid anyways.. replacement blades aren't a huge deal to get.

I bought a ratchet and extensions and the ratchet had a chip in it and also, looked pretty beat up, but did work, and they were sold as used, but it did piss me off that the picture was big and or detailed enough to see that, but I still gave a positive as it worked and everything else was pretty decent and a good buy, but still a little pissed as I think people use small pictures with a shitty resolution to cover things up like that. I feel your pain and agree with you. If that ever happens to me again, I am going to leave a negative feedback as I am tired of bad pictures to cover things up like that.
