View Full Version : Woodstove
I recently moved into a new house. The previous owners left this woodstove in the garage.
I don't see my self ever needing it, so I want to get rid of it. I have never dealt with woodstoves so I have no idea what it's worth or what type it is. I'm sure some of you guys have more info on these. What is it worth? Am I better of scrapping it? Or restoring it?

Old wood stoves are nearly impossible to sell. Scrap is your best bet. The former owner left it because they are sooo heavy. Good luck

Advertise for $100.00 in the local paper, if it does not sell in a a few weeks scrap it.

And if you have to pay to have it hauled away, do what my friend does: Put it out in front with a $100 price sign on it --- It will be gone by the next day...:)

If they used it as a fireplace adder as it seems to be from the photo, I'd be wary of acquiring a heavy creosote condition in the chimney. I agree with others above to direct vent it to a metal chimney and avoid a brick or masonary chimney that will create a thick glasslike layer of creosote.

That's a fireplace insert...covers the hearth and is more efficient. THAT is a great design...I bet it will blast you outta your shop.....JoeKramer is the guy that needs that instead of trying to make the electric company rich...IMHO....PLUS tha's a cooking surface on the top....now your wife can throw your ass outta the house and you won't STARVE!!!!

I put one in front of my house for free and no one took it. Then I put for sale $100.00 and someone stole it! :shocking:
Anybody have any idea's as to how to weight it? I want to figure out how much it's worth as scrap, so I know how much to charge for it if someone wants to buy it. I have someone interested. I would offer it to him for the same price as scrap and save me the hassle of transporting it.
My gut tells me it's about 300lb. But I can't be sure. The thing would crush my bathroom scale.
