I was visiting relatives this past week and ended up doing some electrical work for them to say thanks for all of the expensive tickets they treated us to. I had to pick up a few tools and ended up buying a Klein K1412 Romex stripper. I have usually used a cable ripper for stripping the sheath from NM-B cable but this Klein stripper really made this a piece of cake. You just place the cable in the proper slot, gently squeeze, and pull the outer jacket off with your hand. If you are doing a lot of wiring with 12/2 or 14/2 NM-B cable (Romex) you may want to get one. I believe Stride (Milbar / Imperial) tool makes these for Klein as well as an identical Craftsman Professional branded model.

It looks like they also make another style Romex stripper that looks like it would strip more different kinds of NM cable but I have not tried it. The K1412 works great for 14/2 and 12/2 but would probably nick the inner wire on 3 conductor + ground NM cable. I have not tried it. It may work if done carefully.

Yes sir, that is an awesome tool. I bought the C-man version when I was doing a bunch of electrical work on my house. They work great for both cutting the outer jacket off and for stripping the wire. Just make sure you don't insert your 12ga into the 14ga hole.
