I was a member years ago when they gave a flat discount on everything in the tool department. I don't buy much from Sears now but figured I'd sign up for the new club last year because they still have some good deals from time to time. It took three times singing up and 10 months before I ever got a membership card and came up in the store registers. Now that I'm finally signed up getting their ads is sporadic at best. They send me an email ad but all I usually get is a reminder that there is one more day left in the sale, never anything before that. Earlier this month I got a paper ad in the mail, it's the first one that they've sent out and I've been a member since the first of the year. The ad had the dates of the August sale listed on it but by the time they got the ad to me in the mail there were only two days left. Do those of you that are members have similar problems receiving their ads (both mail and email) or am I just having bad luck with them?

Even their online newsletter is not updated on time. For example, what I see now is still the newsletter for the savings between Aug. 17-24.

next days are 9/7-9/13
sometimes the flyer shows up online 2-3 days before the sale starts

Sounds my experiences with them are typical then. Seems like it's gotten to the point where their club isn't even worth dealing with now. If I remember the old club offered a percentage off on all tool purchases, that was a good deal and of course the tools were better back then too.

I guess they don't want anyone to know about the sale and take advantage of the sale prices LOL The last flyer I got from them had a workbench in it, if I remember correctly it was on sale for the craftsman club for $399.00, regular price was around $450.00 or so. I saw the exact same bench at Sams Club yesterday for around $190.00. Seems that the Craftsman sales aren't that great now.

The flyers don't always go out for people and sometimes stop coming; if this is the case give them a call or sign up again. You can view the ads online here: http://www.craftsman.com/craftsmanclub.html
I'm not sure why they can't get this together; this should be a one person job that coordinates email lists and monthly reminder emails that can go to 1 or 1,000,000 with no extra effort. Same for programming the physical mailing list that's sent to the printers.

The prices for club members are not showing up yet but these items (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/dcp_10153_12605_Craftsman+Club+Saver_Featured+Item s?lid=shop_savings_h) will be discounted

On second thought, those items are from the Aug 17-24 sale, but they will eventually show up on that web page.

I was listed as Dead in their system. I never received ANY ads or the calendar or the promised, initial discount coupon.
I NEVER knew when the sale was.
It took me calling EVERY month, for a period of about three months (and requesting they read me EVERYTHING in the ad and the sale prices). They finally realized, I am NOT DEAD.
It then took about another 8 months of calling, before my first flyer showed up. I received about two months of the discount on anything, before they dropped it.
Now, to reduce costs, they wanted to electronically send me the flyer!?
They have problems updating their website, I can't order with my email address, and they still haven't sent me the first stuff. WTF (First stuff: originally, if your flyers were late, they were supposed to honor them when you received them. I asked that they send the the back issues, calendar and the coupon I was promised).
I did get a few things from them, but there are SO many duplicates, after about 12 months, you can tell what there will be the next 12 months.
It isn't the old Craftsman club that I heard about.

You need to spend more $s at Sears and then you will rise to the top of the mailing list....:lol_hitti

They send me flyers...but I don't have a card. I've signed up a few times over the years.

It's possible you are in the system and they just never sent your card. Next time you go into a Sears go to the tool department and ask them to put your phone number in the register to see if it comes up as a club member. Mine actually did come up that way after the third time or so that I applied.
One other thing that happened with me but I forgot to mention earlier is that the mailers that are coming out now don't usually come to my address. My mom lives near me and for some reason they go to her address with her name on them. It's strange because she never signed up for the craftsman club. If I go to the register and ask them to check my phone number it comes up with her name too. The only thing I can figure out is that she bought my wife and I a refrigerator for a wedding present a few years ago. It was paid for in her name but they listed my phone number in the order for it since it was to be delivered to my home. Since then the store has gotten her name associated with my phone number and I guess as a result got her address associated with my Craftsman Club account, who knows???

Why not call the Craftsman club and have them change your address or if someone didn't get their card, CALL!? Craftsman Club hotline at 1-800-682-8691

I've heard taht before... but i don't think it is true. I haven't spent any money at Sears in a long time but I still get the CC fliers.
If you are just starting out and building your tool collection, then yes, the CC can be helpful. But for most of us, it is old news. The same items are on sale to club members month after month and it gets old quick. This is not the Craftsman Club of old, where you used to get 10% off anything that was branded Craftsman.

I've called them several times to get my card and get the address changed, it doesn't seem to do much good. It sounds like some people have good luck with getting the flyers and some don't.
Eschoendorff, is right, it probably is helpful if you are just starting out and need everything but for those of us that aren't it's not near what the old club was.

somehow I am sure this is not correct. Sears would have to make a serious effort to pull their heads ot of their collective asses to be able to track you and give you that priority.
just dont see that level of attension in them

They don't send me flyers anymore, but I know for a fact that stores receive "stacks" of them that almost never get distributed. What a waste.
Eh, I just go here:
http://craftsman.com/craftsmanclub_internal.html
and am usually happy with it. I mean, it's better than nothing. Also, someone posted the dates a while back for the year.

I got the card as soon as I signed up, but only got one set of fliers via mail. I do get the e-mail notice every week (or is it every other week?).
I've used it for a deal on screw drivers for a set at work.
I'd like to get a Craftsman box for home use, the ball bearing model -- maybe even the professional line, but I haven't seen anything that's on a significant sale yet. Maybe Christmas will be kinder!

The club has its flaws but it is better then paying full retail; if you can find tools that you need!
