We're always talking about the importance of buying tools made here in the U.S.A., but wouldn't be nice if we knew the exact street address of where our tools were made?
Channellock Inc.
1306 South Main Street
Meadville, PA 16335
USA

I love that about Channellock... which is why my heart sunk a little when got this email:
Mr. Schoendorff:
Thanks for contacting Channellock, Inc.
Unfortunately, Channellock, Inc. does not supply sheet metal bending pliers. I would suggesting looking at Lock Jaw’s or Vice Grip’s catalog. I believe they offer a locking plier with that feature.
Sincerely,

I really wanted to buy from Channellock if at all possible. But, Midwest is a Michigan company, so I have no problem supporting them!

I've been right by the Channellock place a dozen times, and never knew what it even was. I'll probably never be up that way again, so it is sort of disappointing.

Snap-on closed the Johnson City plant (made screwdrivers) it was a union shop, the plant in Elizabethton (make wrenches among other things)is still open and expanding and is not a union shop.

I could walk out my front door, look a few blocks down the street, and see the guard gate at the Snap-on facility just a 5 min walk from where I live. I have not lived here long so I'm not too familiar with what happens there other than "hear-say". People have told me that this is/was the world head-quarters of Snap-on. I know that the facility shut down about 2-3 years ago but re-opened a short time later with much fewer cars in the parking lot. Last thing I heard was that all product development took place here and some manufacturing but all the manufacturing was moved to Milwaukee and now it's just product development. Please correct me if I'm wrong.:headscrat

That's too bad. You may have been able to tour the facility. I think Old Car Guy went there during one of his vacations.
