Recently I wrote a new thread asking if anybody had any info about Fero air pumps. There were no replies. There is a web site called Arnies Atomic Engines, Fero Air pumps. Arnie writes that the company was started by his grandfather and Gulf gas stations had them. Mine had a GULF decal on the reciever under old paint.
If you see the pictures on the web site there is a photo of my compressor, an upright reciever with the motor and compressor on top. The picture shows the discharge of the compressor plumbed to the reciever with no visable check valve.
Do compressors require a check valve in the line to the reciever? Mine was replumbed by somebody and they put a 3/4 plumbing swing check valve before the receiver. This genius also put so many bushings and stuff that the 3/4 pipe was reduced to 3/8 at the tank...go figure.
Looking at the pictures on the web site I can not see a check valve although there might be the kind that screws into the reciever and the compressor is plumbed to it.
I would like to replumb my compressor piping to 3/4 from compressor to the tank.
1. Do I need a check valve?
2. Can I use copper pipe?
I might put a piece of braided line in it.
The machine turns real slow and is quiet. I would buy a new one without even looking at today's new machines if I could. All of you readers might keep your eye out for one of these Feros!
