Believe it or not, you would pay a very high premium for that.

Yes.. the A161B trim tool.

I'm pretty sure I've seen the A177A trim tool in orange.

nah, you got me.. never paid much attention to the fork style. I have the 3 piece set nowadays with the extra long shank but they are all u-shaped. I never liked the fork style myself.

I only remembered black but who is to say you couldn't put whatever color handle you wanted on there? My handle just disintegrated (one of the really early hard handles) and he put a replacement "ergo mush" on there as a replacement (guess, what? He charged me too! LOL! I love my Snap-On dealer!) and a replacement handle went on fine!

Yep, that came in orange. They crop up once in a blue moon on eBay. Only ever seen one or two on there though and they go for $40+.

The Snap-on trim removal tools suck anyway, the VW Matador one is the only one worth buying.

Here you go, the VW T10236. (made by Matador, in Germany.)

I would assume your local vw dealer?

A VW main dealer, or a VW TPS depot (usually adjacent to a main dealer) T10236 is the part number to quote, comes up on their system as a "release tool". And, if i recall correctly, they are £9.86 inc VAT. As opposed to the ~£22 for a Snap-on one that doesn't really work so well.

If you can't get it from a dealer, try someone like http://vagparts.com/ and ask them to order it and send it to you. They should be able to do that.

While completing a recent project I did some research and located this post. I contacted MOOSE and he raved about his Matador trim tool. I contacted the local VW dealer and ordered the tool. Total cost was $18.50. The tool worked like a champ. I have not used any other trim tools but this one worked great removing door panels and fender splash guards. Thanks Moose for the info. This is one of the under 20.00 tools that will find a home in my favorite's drawer.
