Bought this off the Snap On truck... all the techs use this light and love it. I keep it in my teaching bag....

Then, I was at the local hardware store and they had gotten a bunch of Mayhew Dominator tools! So I bought up a pick set, a scraper set and a prybar that is at least 30" long. Dig this:

The only sad part is that these Mayhew tools are not marked made in USA... taht an only mean one thing. But they are still the industry standard, and these were tools that I didn't already have - at about 50% of list price. Overall, I am happy.

Those carbon scrapers and the pry bar are still made in Shelburne Falls MA just a few miles from me. I have confirmed this with Mayhew. Thanks for supporting my local economy:thumbup:
If that LED light is one of the ones that takes AAAA cells and you have trouble finding them, you can peel the skin off of a alkaline 9 volt battery and there will be six of them there in series. Cut the tabs and you are good to go.

That model Stylus takes th3 4a battery. Bass Pro Shops is the cheapest place I've ever found them.

What Brand of 9v battery? I've seen this discussed & busted on Snopes.com before.

unless the ones they say "the consumer wouldn't have much use for" are 4a but just rerely used.

I need both a set of carbon scrapers and a good hook & pick set... These seem like good candidates!

I have to say, Mad, that I am pretty skeptical that these are USA-made tools, especially since I can't even find a claim of such anywhere online, including the Mayhew catalogue... I suspect you have been misled!

Any decent brand 9 volt alkaline battery. The cells in the carbon batteries you find in the dollar store will be more like little blobs though.

I called Mayhew this morning and they flat out, without hesitation, told me that they were made in Shelburne Falls. I don't know why they would not be marked but I know they have been making them here for a long time and I do not recall ever seeing "Made in USA" on the Dominator stuff. Perhaps the handle is not U.S. made or maybe they just never thought that this would be in question. I have some older Mayhew screwdrivers that are only marked "Mayhew".
There is a made in USA logo on the home page.

Although This is somewhat misleading since much of the "Cat's Paw" product line is imported.

Uch yea, that Stylus takes AAAA batteries. To avoid the hassle, there are one or two decent alternatives, including the Stylus Pro, but for a bit more money. BUT, it'll be good if you have easy access to AAAAs.
Uh-oh, and you bought it off the SO truck? How much was it, if you don't mind my asking.

Probably have enough foreign components that they are fit and finished over here, but don't qualify for the made in the USA label.
I had two of that Streamlight. The Blue bulb is brighter. They are handy but mine were rebranded by Mac (don't know if they still do that) and both replaced, as when they died, the batteries were corroded in them. Mac man said that was common with them.
So I am looking at something along the lines of the Stinger series.

It was $19.10 I left the invoice attached in the first pics.

.
The Pry bars, hooks, and picks that Mayhew makes for Craftsman all say USA on them. If it is really an issue with foreign components then I assume that the handle is the issue.
BTW: The Craftsman Scrapers are not from Mayhew as far as I am aware.

He said he got them for around half the list price.
Or if those seem too cheap for you there is always:

What a deal!
BTW - what's wrong with just using a bent/ground filler rod?

I didn't know that either. I'm going to try that. Hopefully it doesn't blow up in my face.
