I have a set of Skil 14.4v tools (circ saw, jig saw, drill/driver) that are still in good working order, but the batteries and charger or all dead. I have already decided that I am NOT going to dump any more $$$ into them (as far as batteries and chargers) and that I am instead going to save for a whole new tool kit.

The issue is, these are still decent tools... not the best, but they all still work very well. They just need batteries and a charger. I feel real bad about just putting them in the trash, but that's exactly what's going to happen, unless someone has a better idea...

I am soliciting ideas here. Recycling? How? Where?

Let's hear your thoughts...

If you've got that many tools using the same battery then I'd say go find at least two or more new batteries. No sense throwing away perfectly good tools. If you want to simply upgrade then do that and give these old tools to a friend/relative that is just starting their collection. Also, I've never heard of recycling of the tools themselves, just the batteries. Call your local township and ask them about where to drop off old batteries.

Why dont you take one of the old batteries apart then solder a cord on to it. Put a couple of alligator clips on it theh you have a great tool to keep in your truck or motor home or whatever

There are battery rebuilding services, some are on eBay.
