Busy weekend

After years of collecting various boxes it was time to consolidate. So off went this box to a friend

Yes, I agree. It's rare that we see real industrial brick workshops anymore. I love the nostalgic look; especially when that garage is full of nicely cared for vintage Sprite's -- what a great combination.

Somewhat of a relative thing. A long road trip for Myself is when I drove from the south side of Atlanta, GA, to Woodbridge, NJ (about 1800 miles roundtrip), to pick up a 25 ton Dake hydraulic press I won an Ebay bid on............ or when I drove, again from the south of Atlanta, GA, to Sandusky, OH, on Lake Erie to pick up a portable gantry crane I got on an Ebay best offer deal. (don't recall the mileage on that one, about 1500 I think).

I often think that in the eastern US, you could have breakfast in one state, hit the road, and cross a dozen state lines by lunchtime.

I suppose that in the "Old World", you would have traveled through a few different countries in the same time frame.

Frank Elson, As far as taking over, your too late. It' between Mexico and China. IMO right after the Revolution we started going down hill.. All this because we didn't want to pay a tax on tea. Well we won! Now we pay taxes on everything else. This whole misunderstanding could have been prevented if we all would have switched to coffee.:lol_hitti

Possibly in the NorthEast, but not down here in the South. Georgia is the largest state east of the Mississippi River. Every summer I drive from my house to Clinton, Iowa, for a gathering of Cessna 150-152 aircraft. I leave at 6 ish in the morning, or a little earlier, and I'm hitting Chattanooga in the late morning rush hour, north side of Nashville stop for lunch, then Kentucky, cross the Ohio River and north thru Illinois, which goes f o r e v e r till I stop for dinner somewhere before Peoria (Downs, ILL a couple of times). I finally arrive in Clinton at 11pm (eastern) some seventeen hours later and only been in five states (Iowa almost doesn't count, since Clinton is on the river) and I'm only in Kentucky for 80 miles.

Nearest decent grocery for me is about 12 miles, though there is a mom and pop grocery (not a convenience store) about 4 miles from the house.

Now counties are a different matter. Georgia has 159, the most of any state except Texas. Smallest is about 80 square miles, largest is about 800 sq/mi. The one I live in is 500 sq/mi.
