Finally going through my father's box to see what's in there - my grandfather passed it to my dad, and when my dad died two years ago, it came to me. Most of the stuff is my grand-dad's and I'm guessing 50~60 years old.

I've built a pretty respectable tool inventory of my own, I don't really need or want to raid dad's collection. The plan is to clean up the tools, maybe restore the box (It's wooden, like a machinist's box), then give it its place of honor in the garage.

First thing I've found so far is a random collection of sockets, Branded with the "Industro Select" name. They're all 12pt and sized in thirty-seconds.
I can't seem to find any information on the web about that exact brand; I'm only seeing either "Indestro", or "Industro" and no "Select".

Can anyone point me in the direction of some historical information?

Thanks

I believe the Indestro "Select" line of tools was a bit cheaper than the Indestro "Super" product line. The early tools were marked "Select Steel" and the later tools just said "Select" from what I have observed. I have a set of Indestro Select deep offset box wrenches and they are good tools.

Alloy artifacts has quite a bit of info about Duro/Indestro.

"Select Steel Tools" Trademark

Both the Duro and Indestro catalogs use the phrase "Select Steel" as though it were a brand name or trademark, although it wasn't registered as such. This usage began fairly early on, probably as soon as they needed to make a distinction between the more expensive Chrome Alloy steel and the economy grade "Select" alloy. (The 1939 catalog identifies "Select Steel" as a Carbon-Manganese alloy.) In 1963 Indestro did finally register the mark "Select Steel Tools", and though this is slightly different from the marks typically forged into the tools, it makes it clear that the companies had regarded "Select Steel" as a brand all along. [Registration number 0733592.]

Would love to see some photos if you get a chance. Some of us love the old tools!
