I got a new pancake compressor yesterday and I am going to replace the couplings with better pieces and loosening the pieces they just spin and dont come off of the hose....is their something I am missing here? I pull and they dont come off....any suggestions?

I've had a cheap hose that came with my compressor do the same thing. The connectors were directly crimped on... I just got another hose (it was also only 1/4" diameter hose). I'm using the 1/4" one now if I need to put air into tires in the driveway where my other one won't reach...

When you buy new connectors, watch the style. They are not all interchangeable. I found out the hard way ;-)

Just cut the hose, they're most likely push lock fittings.

What you want is 3/8" hose with the Type V HVLP fittings. This is how they compare to type M. They flow enough air to run tools that call for 1/2" hose such as a 3/4" impact so if/when you upgrade your compressor they will still give you all the performance possible. Best thing is that the type V quick connect will work with type A & M male fittings but not vice versa so your buddy's tools will work at your place but your tools won't work anywhere else without changing fittings which will reduce the chances of them being borrowed.

The type V couplers are really overrated, unless you're using tools with 15+ CFM requirements you're not going to see any gains. I have one hose with the type Vs on it that I use for die grinders, the sandblaster, etc. No reason to bother with type V for everything.
