Here is my work in progress, and my granny, I thought i'd title it a little old ladys grocery getter. It's a 69 nova that my dad bought new the year I was born. He used to drive me around in it when I would get cranky as a baby. The shaking of the car put me right to sleep. Sometimes he would just put me in the drivers seat and start it up, and i'd be out in 2 minutes.

And my 77 Mini, with 1300cc, flowed head, 40DCOE side draft weber, lcb header, full adjustable suspension, metro 4pot discs, etc, etc, etc.

And a 78 Mini I'm building for my old man.

It can be scary at some times:bounce:. I keep the high boost setting at 18psi most of the time. Still making 380whp @18psi though. I also have my greddy ProfecB boost controller controlled by my left horn button so I run lower boost in 1st , 2nd then hit high boost in the higher gears. Traction is definitely a problem with 400+hp in a fwd car.

The VR6 has only a 15' V so its pretty compact.

Here are a few of the car projects that i did over the last year for friends.

Oh my!!! There some insane cars in here!!! Awesome!

Not worthy of this thread since what I am doing is all cosmetic changes... not enough $ to put a worthy modified engine in the engine bay... but anyway:

I am modifying this car from this:

http://forums.rennlist.com/upload/911sc8.jpg

To this:

http://forums.rennlist.com/upload/pic11701215786888.jpg

And this is what it looks like today:

All other cars are completely stock... and the rail buggy was sold to a friend as he got tired of waiting for me to finish it...

Not a car, but it is another "mini truck"...well mini suv :) It's been dormant for a long time now due to the state buying my house for a new road and trying to get moved into a new location. I start my new garage very very soon :D Anyway here we go!

1996 S10 Blazer

The only thing still original is the body shell. Here is a rundown of the modifications completed and ongoing:

BODY
-Shaved items: handles, gas door, rear wiper, rear hatch button, antenna, wipers, hood squirters, side mirrors, roof racks, 3rd brake light, tail lights, entire rear end (welded tailgate shut; installed sheetmetal quarter panels and roll pan and all welded together), some roof seams and other small items that will probably go unnoticed ;)

-37x70 sliding ragtop

-Rear door jambs & doors tubbed to make room for 22"s

-98+ Front fascia swap; taillights to come...

-Full hand built flat sheetmetal floor from firewall back with tubs. Gives me about 2" more headroom than stock floor.

-Shaved firewall with small tubs for front 20" wheels

CHASSIS & SUSPENSION
-Full stock floor bodydrop. Will lay the body sheetmetal flat on the ground.

-Hand made tube frame from firewall back. Built from 3"x3" 1/4" wall square tubing.

-Tranny x-member has removable center piece and square tube sections added for exhaust routing.

-Triangulated 4-link rear setup with "bag on bar" for greater lift and smoother ride.

-Air Bags are Slam Specialties RE7s on all 4 corners. (8) 1/2" valves. Haven't decided on compressors or tanks just yet. I'm leaning on a polished Sanden engine driven and a couple of 5 gallon tanks right now.

ENGINE & DRIVE-TRAIN
-Motor is a 355 SBC from a Camaro that was built part for part using an article in Car Craft to produce 440HP. I don't have the exact list of parts here right now but I do know it has an Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap intake, a VERY nasty Comp Cam, and Vortec heads. I added a bigger carb (Holley Street Avenger 770) and a more powerful ignition system than what was on there when I bought it. Will have Hedman big tube headers and everything else I need to get it running soon.

-Transmission is a 700R4 rebuilt with all Corvette internals to hold 600HP.

-Rear end is a Ford 9" narrowed 8" on each side to fit the deep 22"s. New Moser axels fitted for S10 bolt pattern. Haven't performed a gear swap just yet...and I'm not sure of the stock gear ratio as the information plate has been removed. I do know it came out of a 60's or 70's Thunderbird.

WHEELS & TIRES
-Front: Boyd Coddington Slayer 20" x 8.5" wrapped in NITTO NT555s
-Rear: Boyd Coddington Slayer 22" x 11.5" with a 7" dish also wrapped in NITTO NT555s

INTERIOR
-Incomplete at this time. Looking for a 55 or 57 Bel Air dash. Will have vintage buckets up front and hopefully a small bench in the rear. Interior will have all vintage styling.

PAINT
-Bare sheetmetal for now. Will be a two tone satin black on bottom, heavy metallic red (nearly a burgundy) on top that sweeps back over the black with flames all pinstripped in either a silver or lilac/violet color.

OTHER OPTIONS & POSSIBLE MODS
I have a set of Fireman's Cross Harley mirrors that I was going to use but now I want something a little more sleek. I am really really really wanting to suicide the back doors however the height of the wheel tub is making that dream very difficult to come true. Exhaust will be true duals with either a pair of Flowmaster Super 40s or go old school and use a pair of Cherry Bombs. The hood will be cut to allow the motor to come through. Intake for the motor will be either a Gasser style scoop or one of the tri-hole scoops.

I know I've probably forgotten something so I'll get to posting pictures then if anything hits me I'll add it later. Enjoy!

Rendering of what it "might" look like ;)

After a small collision tearing up 2 of my center caps on my wheels, a jealous idiot punching the side of my bed and leaving a fist sized dent among other tragedies it looks kind of rough. I am getting ready to start a full make over with this truck...will post details soon!

Thanks alot! Yeah, I wish I could have posted my GOOD pictures last night...I'll have to try to find where I've stashed them and post them up.

Paint will be very close to the rendering. Several years ago Jesse James had an S10 built with a similar paint job. I'll see if I can dig up the photo. It's a satin hotrod black on the bottom with a basecoat/clearcoat finish for the top color in a very, very deep metallic red. Pinstriped with either a violet/lilac color or silver.

Also, I need to give credit where credit is due. The suspension work, ragtop install, firewall, floor and rear shaving were done by a guy in Joplin, MO by the name of Kyle Dimetroff. The engine was cleaned, painted and reassembled by a guy in El Paso, TX named Hector Gonzalez. Both guys are from the www.blazinlow.com forum. The truck was picked up by me in primer with a raw frame, raw metal interior, and no other work done. I have taken it to where it is now...which includes fixing some very bad body-filler work before the primer was sprayed. Not Kyle's fault...the shop doing the painting dropped the ball on that one :(

Ok those ae both fun lookin rides the Fiat should be all kinds of fun to keep on the road. I grew up hanging with a couple brothers who's dad had an old 500 and almost every weekend he would pile all of us boys in the car and take us out for a spin through the tiwsties in it . To this day I remember that thing was like a large gocart around the corners :D:D.

Well I have had this blue Mustang LX since '89 and it has been a great car. 10 yrs ago pulled the 5.0 for a 5.8 351w EFI and big brakes w/ 18" Moda wheels. Not long past that a Vortech S-Trim was added and puts some real fun into the coupe.

Black interior, FloFit seats and a Momo steering wheel make it comfy inside. Dynomax UltraFlos add the tone to a JBA/Bassani exhaust.

Scotty4130 love the Cossie !
Apparently one of those covered the 2 miles down in our village from one set of traffic lights to another, from a standing start in just 2 minutes a few years ago.
Of course we... er... someone... did it at 2am in the morning.

Well I'm new here and I gotta start this out by saying DAAAAAYYYYMMMM!!! There are some nice ass cars and trucks running around this place:bowdown::bowdown:

Mine doesn't really compare to some of the beautiful classics that some of you guys have, but here she is anyway.

2003 SVT Cobra in Dark Shadow Gray.
Some of the mods include a Whipple 2.3L Gen II supercharger, JLT cold air intake, complete custom fuel system, custom intercooler/aftercooler system, Steeda Sport lowering springs with all Maximum Motorsports polyurethane bushings throughout, full length sub frame connectors and MUCH, MUCH more.
The wheels are polished billet True Forged Chicanes in 18x9 and 18x10. The interior features a custom Infinity / Clarion DVD/Nav sound system without about 2000 watts of surround sound power.
So far she's gone a best of 11.1 @ 129 on BF Goodrich Radials. I am in the process of ordering a set of slicks for it so I can really see what it can do. Once I get a 10 second slip out of it, I'll be heading back down to the dyno to have a more aggressive race tune done. Then it's 10.30's or bust.
On the pump fuel tune that I currently have she made just shy of 600 RWHP and 550 RWTQ.
The car currently has about 9k miles on it and ALL of the work was done by me, in my lowly little 1 car garage. I do have to give some credit to my friends at The Streetrod Store (www.thestreetrodstore.com) for allot of help along the way and some very generous lift time when I needed it.

Hoping to have it back on the road by summer, but it's looking more like summer '12 at this rate.

Rev 2 3sgte transplant (2.0 turbo)
machined Bmw M3 front discs
4 pot calipers from Celica Gt4
rear brake setup from mk2 mr2
full 3" straight thru exhaust system
GT4 charge cooler
dyno'd at 240bhp@wheels@16psi

Mk1 Toyota Mr2 with 2.0 Turbo rev2 3S-GTE engine
full 3" exhaust system
cone air filter
st205 chargecooler
15psi boost(although dyno graph was taken when it was set at 12psi)
17" wheels and yokohama tyres
St205 4 pot calipers and Bmw M3 discs
mr2 turbo rear calipers and vw corrado discs
Koni adjustables all round
suspension geometry set to what was in the TRD race manual

loads of other mods i cant remember, but the thing was pushing 216bhp @ the wheels at 12psi, didnt have it re dyno'd after it was raised to 16psi but i bet it wasnt far off 300bhp@ flywheel which isnt bad in a 1100kg car

It's crazy I have no pics of the car itself, but I got the money shots! Anyway, it was nothing fancy, just a 93 Honda Civic EX, 20lbs of boost, d16z6 built.

My partner and I ran this car in the Super Eliminator class (7.90). The car was probably capable of 7.50, had to use a throttle stop to run 7.90.

BBC bowtie block, Cola 4340 crank, GRP billet rods, Ross pistons, Brodix AFR heads, injected methanol. Around 900 ponies in a 1400 lb car.

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=679&pictureid=5463

No doors, no fenders, no hood, easy to work on but with a 240" wheelbase it took a lot of space to make a turn. :)

Sears Point, back in '98.

Was that car in Mopar Collectors Guide?

Indy is my home track. I was born and raised in Indiana, and partially blame my passion for cars/racing on that. Wouldn't expect anything less than this coming from Indy.

No super HP, but def. modified quite a bit, 1995 Subaru Impreza, started life as a boring 1.8l 5sp, all wheel drive car. I've built it into a stage rally car, graphics scheme is imitation of the factory rally cars from the 1990's.

All the work was done by me, cage, paint etc., only thing I didn't do was mount the tires. ;)

Roof skin removed for cage construction...

Here's my '92 Jeep Cherokee, I've chopped the rear, which is in the process of getting chopped again. It has about 5-6" lift and 35" MTR's. Only thing done to the engine is a Borla header and custom cold air intake. I have new axles, roll cage, and transfer case to go in at some point.

How about a Neon with a Caravan 3.3L swap? I also found a 5 speed to fit the V6. It is pretty tight, but it all fits. There was some fabrication, but due to Chrysler using common dimensions for decades at a time it was mostly a matter of finding the right combination of parts. It gets over 30 MPG highway. It is not that quick, somewhat due to a very bad traction problem. I hope to pull the engine this winter and do some go-fast work to it. (it is dead stock right now)

Yes I do like Corvettes! Looking for a 1958,59, or 60 next.

Lots of great cars and trucks in this thread!

Here's a bone stock original motor 4speed 6bbl road runner that will be getting a 505cu inch stroked 440 with ported aluminum heads and a comp XS290s solid lifter cam. Everyone seems to be taking these cars back to original but I've had this thing for 6 years(and a number of different 69 GTOs for over 20 years) and have never had anything but a stock motor. It'll probably make 525-550hp and 600lb/ft torque. One engine builder says if I keep the redline bias ply tires that if I punch it in 3rd or even 4th gear at 55 to watch for the ass end coming around :scared: ...

Started with a 2.5L and swapped a 3L out of a Taurus into it. Then it got a Torsen L/S, Fidanza 8lb flywheel and a Spec Stage 3+. Blew the hub springs out of the 3+ and went to a full stage 3. I blew the hub springs out of that too - if I pull the trans again, I'm going 3 puck solid hub :) Other then the obvious, different intake, full ceramic coated headers, y-pipe, custom motor mounts, sway links and bars, stereo work etc etc.

(Too bad you can't see any of the pretty stuff :( )

Then I got into 4x4's even more-

74' Bronco, D60/D70U disk brake axles, NP435 4 speed and an Atlas 2 tcase. PSC full hydro, stretched the front end with some Cage arms and coils, custom adjustable coil towers. Building a EFI 351W with EFI and Trick Flow heads ~400hp.

Here's my 2005 Subaru WRX Wagon. It has a full STI drivetrain (transmission, rear end, brakes, etc.) and a fully built 2.5L STI long block with the following mods:

- Kelford AVCS 272/272 cams
- Perrin rotated turbo exhaust kit
- Tial external wastegate, and Tial 50mm blow off valve
- Hallman pro boost controller
- Garrett GT35R turbo
- Hydra standalone ECU
- Hydramist methanol injection
- Perrin equal length headers
- Custom fuel system with dual walboro pumps, rails, and an aeromotive fuel pressure regulator
- Borla hush catback
- A laundry list of other parts, basically it has everything you can throw at it

It's putting down 430/400 at all four wheels on my low boost (20 psi) 91 pump tune. Once we flip on the methanol switch, and run about 27-28 lbs of boost, it will be good for 500awhp, and mid to high 10 second 1/4 passes.

Oh yeah, I still get great gas mileage while tooling around town. Just gotta stay out of boost. :)

My contribution to the thread 03 Mustang Cobra, MMR block pulled the supercharger off and did a twin turbo conversion. She makes around 750rwhp on a pump gas tune (91 octane Cali crap) and around 900rwhp on the race map. I have gotten as much as 18mpg on a trip to Vegas, with the A/C blowing the whole way.

The road a little less traveled around here:

Started with a 1972 Datsun 240z. 100rwhp, 2355lbs.

Changed just about everything except the body panels and the wipers. 350rwhp, 2200lbs. Optimized for the corners rather than the straights.

So what did that Detroit diesel come out of? Not a motor we see over here, what sort of power/torque does it put out?

I've pieced it together from parts and pieces that I've found all over the place, so it didn't really "come out" of anything. They used aluminum motors in marine applications and I was told that the block was used in a navy minesweeper. I'm hoping once it's done to have around 300hp and 1000 lb-ft of torque.

Dyers built 6-71 with a 12% overdrive and 9.5:1 static compression.
According to Dyers Machine, 800hp under driven on 92 Octane and 1,100 hp when overdriven on 110 Octane. The pictures here are of the single Carb top with 1,000 CFM.

222280

222281

222288This was my first engine build. 350 bored .60 over mated to a modded 700r4.
I always wanted a sleeper.
I collected four of these to make one thats why I call it "4 of a Kind"
If I finish my garage in time and I don't pick up another project, I will strip out all of the interior and build a full road coarse suspension based around a 4 link and a roll cage.
Nothing like the sound of the startup... with help from a few great friends it lit right up after the first turn.
Cheers

00 mustang gt

.020 over 4.6 motor, mahle powerpak pistons/modmax forged rods, stainless valves, modmax valvesprings, full exhaust, CMS stage 2 blower cams, 42 lb injectors, procharger 8 lbs of boost made 413 rwhp and 450 rwtq. had belt slip on the dyno and maxed out at 5400 rpm. if it had pulled up to 6500 like i planned i should have hit around 11 lbs of boost and made much more. i would have been out of fuel though so i've got a set of 60 lb injectors, twin cobra pumps, a smaller blower pulley, and a new slot style MAF on the way. hope to retune in the spring sometime, shooting for at least 475 if not 500.

WOW, there's some Cool Iron here. From a car guy perspective, it's always a treat to see whats being put together around the country, or World for that matter.

Let me introduce BIGIRON. Frame off, almost like she came from Lordstown Ohio in 1969. Paint by Todd Stevenson, the rest by me.

Two posts up, the black truck with the LS. LOVE It!!!!!!!

Here's my super modified car. 93 Pontiac Trans Am It don't look like much, but it was meant that way:

http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i177/Fastbird93/Purple%20Car/DSC_5070.jpg

It's packing a bit of a punch for a motor that some people consider the brown stain of small block Chevy's. It's got an LT1 in it. But it's worked over from top to bottom (splayed 4 bolt mains with milodon caps, Lunati 3.75 crank and 5.7" billet rods, custom diamond pistons, O-ringed, .030 over, ported trick flow heads, custom cam, ported LT4 intake, 58mm TB) and inhales courtesy of a PT76GTS turbo. Initial dyno tune at 20 PSI netted 767 RWHP and 712 RWTQ on a poor tune and poor boost control. Most recent clean up of the tune netted 684 RWHP on a mustang dyno (rear lower than industry standard dynojet numbers) at 15 PSI with good boost control but maxing out the controller. Still working some bugs out, so far it's been 11.58@134 losing all boost 1 full second prior to the traps when I blew a coupler. Once I get it off the line better (that pass was a 2.0 short time, it's a six speed car too) I should easily run into the 10's with it. And it's full weight with air conditioning, power steering, stereo, etc still.

Man! There are some awesome cars in this thread.

I've never really had much money to spend so, I built this little baby on a budget of $1,000. That was eighteen years ago.

http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q281/tached_out/100_1241.jpg
Here it is back in the day. It ran a best of 11.36 @120 mph. I put over 300 runs on the car in this configuration.

http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q281/tached_out/ForumsizedGremlininthesnow.jpg
It went through thick and thin.

http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q281/tached_out/100_1823.jpg
One day I pulled the motor out and gave it a new coat of paint. By the way it's an AMC 360.

http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q281/tached_out/1974%20Gremlin/100_1824.jpg
I retired the car to street duty for a few years. It was still stinky fast and fun to drive.

http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q281/tached_out/100_2000.jpg
I sold the engine to a guy clear across the country. He is very happy and reports that he has already blown up a couple of transmissions behind it.

I've always wanted a fast inline six, so that is my winter project. I let you know how it goes.

Wow!!! There are some awesome rides in this thread. I've always been a car nut but the last couple of years I've kinda done something a bit different. How about some really fast golf carts????

Here's my street cart. '07 EZGO electric. 48volts 43 mph all air suspension and a ton of custom stuff...

http://terryhatfield.com/album/49/73133558.JPG

http://terryhatfield.com/album/49/38625329.JPG

Here's the current project. All 4130 chassis. Ran a previous best 1/8 mile of 7.87 @ 82mph on 144 volts. Going to 196 volts for this year and then up from there. Waiting to get it in the chassis shop to lengthen the chassis and then building a streamliner body for it. Hoping to get it into the 6's and over 100mph in the 1/8th mile.

Oh my!!! There some insane cars in here!!! Awesome!

Not worthy of this thread since what I am doing is all cosmetic changes... not enough $ to put a worthy modified engine in the engine bay... but anyway:

I am modifying this car from this:

http://forums.rennlist.com/upload/911sc8.jpg

To this:

http://forums.rennlist.com/upload/pic11701215786888.jpg

And this is what it looks like today:

http://forums.rennlist.com/upload/dsc02123_medium.jpg

All other cars are completely stock... and the rail buggy was sold to a friend as he got tired of waiting for me to finish it...

Well, I can finally update this thread with some progress...

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s144/wachuko/1983%20RSR/HoodPins-1.jpg

And since this is a sickness that I have, just could not keep away from another project... :lol_hitti Some one else unfinished project... boxes and boxes of parts... I don't know what I was thinking...

I can appreciate the skill and challenge of making a road course car perform well, but I have have always preferred the sheer brutality of drag racing - it's like the motorsports equivalent boxing and the NFL rolled up in one package.

I built everything except the chassis - alcohol injected engine, transbraked Powerglide, braced 9" Ford rearend, all wiring, plumbing, injection tuning...

http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f342/diggerrick/Dragster/Dragster1.jpg

http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f342/diggerrick/Dragster/Digger004.jpg

http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f342/diggerrick/Dragster/Burnout.jpg

http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f342/diggerrick/Dragster/Leave2.jpg

Then I decided that running in the 8.70's @ 151-152 was getting kinda boring, so I splurged and had a 406" beast professionally bult by a local Pro/Mod race who was building his own 6s/215mph engines. This engine is supposed to put my car in the mid/high 7's, but hasn't made from the dyno to the car.

It probably won't now that I'm buying my Dad's '48 Prefect ex-gasser that he started converting to a street rod:

Love front engine dragsters. I used to have a 163 inch Woody Gilmore x-junior fuel car. I spent two years restoring it and setting it up to run Super Comp. The car was turn key ready to race, but my wife started having babies and wouldn't stop. I sold it. I never did take it down the track.

2004 Cadillac CTS-V. Has the LS6 6-speed manual trans, with 70,000 miles. She's already got long tube headers, high flow cats, corsa axle back as well as hotchkis suspension components.

Currently in the works of building a 383 stroker, TEA heads, tick cam, fast intake 102 intake/TB, shooting for ~550 RWHP.

No most likely a prostreet setup. The stock Thing gearing is already to low, a bus box would be worse.

Pete does a great job on the linkage. Ive got it on both my cars.

Define weak, what were your short times? For the trap speed vs ET I'd say you're making good use of the power you've got (probably around 500 at the tires???) considering it probably doesn't have a lot of low end grunt.

I dont think I ever beat a 1.68 or so for a 50 ft. I was running full weight with all interior and air still. My issue was 18 inch rims with a drag radial. If I had a 15 inch rim with some sidewall to wrinkle it would have done better for sure.

I had decent launches...just spun alot. I was running a custom built 3800 rpm stall with some billet goodies inside and a pretty modified 4r75w trans. I ate 4 trannies by the time I had 14k on the car. I may have accidentally let it shift into overdrive at 130 or so at wide open throttle to beat a 100 shot ls1 a few times....that couldnt have been it could it? lol.

I hope it counts.. It's just a basic heads cam package at the moment. Only making 430rwhp, but should be getting a Procharger P1SC, 4l80e and a new rear as soon as I finish up the Bronco.

Coolest car in this thread. No contest.

Everybody hotrods sporty cars. And, they all blur together after awhile.

Big props for taking the road less traveled!

Here is a quick youtube vid of mine. 1963 nova, 408, F1A. This was a year or two ago when I was still on a stock computer and the tuning was not very good. I am running the holley dominator EFI and it is much better these days.

I met you at Back to the 50s last year!

I work for Adam's Polishes and we chatted for a quick second. We were the ones (of many) who had our booth destroyed by the storms and were moved inside, close to where you had the car.

Awesome little Nova.
My Dad always had a '62 - '67 in the garage. I think in all he had 25 of them over the years. I took my wife on one of our first dates in a 1962 SS, had a built 383, fenderwell headers and exhaust exiting in front of the rear tires. It was white with red interior, beautiful and quick little car, was very fun to drive. I wouldn't mind having one now.

E.rodz,
Love the car, but how about a pic of that garage door?

Not sure if it'd qualify as "Super Modified" but is strictly a driver and a fun car to visit the local cruises around our area. It has a 454+.030 with a 671 and Turbo 400. Car weighs about 2200 lbs so I guess it's kinda peppy.

Lots of nice rides on here, glad to see them being driven and not being hauled in most cases.
