you can buy 7" blades. but i don't think i would use one on a mitre saw, unless you don't like your saw. i have some but i only use them in my old worn out circular saw.

Interesting discussion on this site: http://www.locostusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2174

The blades themselves are definitely out there: http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=chop+saw+blades&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

http://www.google.com/products?client=safari&rls=en&q=metal%20Chop%20Saw%20Blade%20&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&um=1&sa=N&tab=wf

I guess the other question is; what size is your saw? The blades seem to come in: 10, 12, 14 inch sizes..

Maybe, instead of ruining your good miter saw; you should rent one for a afternoon or something? Maybe its time to buy another tool? LOL! :)

Yeah,Right now i got to keep the lights on,so tool budget is a little low right now.

Krutsy! I don't think it will tear up the motor if you gradually cut with it.

This guy even has a video of him cutting with a metal cutting blade and a normal miter saw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bBikwqX0hQ

No. Those are junk. The motors are too weak, even at $30.

I bought a 10" metal chop saw blade from Home Depot. I've used it in my miter saw with no problems. You have to be easy on it though as the motors aren't as powerful as a chop saw.

About how much did it cost?

Don't remember, it was several years ago. It was the abrasive type, so it was rather cheap.

Do not use the abrasive type blades- the grit will ruin your miter box saw.

You can buy carbide tipped blades made specifically for cutting metal. These work *really* well. Do not use a regular wood cutting blade- the tooth design on the metal cutting blade helps to prevent overfeeding the cut.

The abrasive blades throw off a bunch of sparks and leave a nasty cut edge.

The carbide blades throw off a lot of metal chips and leave a nice cut. They are also really noisy. Wear a full face shield over safety glasses and earplugs... trust me on this... especially if you are not using a saw specifically made to cut metal (the guards and chip collection are different).

Blades vary in price with size, quality and country of origin.

The cost of the blade will be made up in saved labor and cleanup.

the heated metal chips and abrasive dust will get in the saw motor and cause havoc... they will also stick to and melt the plastic guard. I'd do it if I wanted to ruin a good saw...

for those interested in a reasonably priced dry cut carbide saw blade for your chop saw... go to bullet industries site

for 40 bucks you can get a 60 tooth 14" blade that goes thru metal like a hot knife thru butter... I got one and I love it... almost makes me put down my metabo grinder...
