I've been shoppin around online for a set of metric flare nut wrenches & Snap On has a six piece set for, :wtf: $220. A comparable S-K set can be had for $60 & Gearwrench for even less. You'd have to be better than a trial lawyer to convince me that the Snap On set is $160 better than the S-K set. Can't believe they're serious.

The only flare nut wrenches I've ever tried are Bonney's and Snap-on. I never tried the S-K's; not in a hurry to either. :D

There was a huge thread about this...

If I remember correctly, the conclusion of the community in that thread was the the Craftsman raised panel wrenches are the best and everything else will ruin your life. Granted, my memory might be going.

well i aint a trial lawyer, just a humble 28 year veteran of the automotive business. i gave away a set of s-k line wrenches, i'd rather use an open end wrench, it would work as well. i'll just keep using my snap ons........

****goes into full snob mode****
After reading this board for a year, I've pretty much have S-K black listed. Before that, I always thought S-K had the ugliest most sickening wrenches anyway.

Personally I don't like the Snap on beam design on the one's I have. I buy used Bonney, or Cornwell line wrenches. It's just a feel issue with me the Snap on's hurt my hands after so long.
As for all the other issues they bring up on here. Never seen it happen. All the decent quality wrenches I've used seem to work the same. Just different lengths or thicknesses let you get into places differently.

I believe it's the Cman Pros that are the best. The raised panels gave everyone grief.

I was ignoring that post gofastman. It leads to strife and conflict.

What you use depends on your budget and what your working on. Here in the rust belt, with abused/neglected cars, Snap-on ones pay for themselves, in the fact you don't have to always replace multiple parts (cutting things off, stripping things).
Even with them, we sometimes have had to use the blue tipped torch (REALLY sucks).
At the shop, we have common sizes in Snap-on, then the owner also has the old raised panel Craftsman (spread at the shop), and bought Craftsman professional ones to replace them. They are only used in non common sizes, and when I am not there.
I have almost a full set of Snap-on in both SAE and Metric, that were purchased via Ebay. I am replacing the metric due to a ba@@ard thief. (these are the open end, flare nut end wrenches). I have a few that are engraved/marked and I was able to buy sets that weren't all marked to get the sized I wanted, cheaper.
I also have dual flare nut wrenches, that are Kobalt (J.H. Williams made). They match the Snap-on and were bought when Lowe's was doing the precrossover closeout ($40 a set).
You can get a deal, between the economy (CL, Ebay, local and retiring mechanics), and more so if you don't mind owner marked. If you don't like Snap, etc. Buy one of whatever brand your looking at (common size), and try it on stuff. Better learning that one won't do what you want then a whole set.
