Hi all,

I was looking at hammers yesterday at Lowe's and happened to notice those. I'm not too familiar with Kobalt's products, but I don't think I'd ever seen them before. They have a big "Made in the USA" logo on the front and it says Danaher on the back.
They didn't seem to look like what I remember the craftsman looking like, and the finish looked a bit nicer than the GearWrench ones they had on display.
Chinese GearWrench that is.
Don't really "need" anymore ratcheting wrenches at the moment (saving for a jack :)) but it's good to know there might be another US made option.
Anyone tried them?

I have never used them myself but if they were made by Danaher you would think they would be the same as the Gearwrench ratcheting wrenches. However they do not seem nearly as smooth or as fine tooth as gearwrenches. I think I remember a Craftsman raised panel ratcheting wrench that felt about the same as these. I would spend my money on the gearwrenches or the full polish craftsman. But those do seem like an inexpensive american made alternative.

Maybe those are better quality than my first ratcheting wrench set... Mine are Kobalt locking flex ones. They were on sale and I bought a SAE set. Worst wrenches I've ever used. They have a little stamped metal collar around the ratcheting part. If you put a SLIGHT bit of non-perpendicular force on the head, it will slip (ask my knuckles...). I can make these things slip when turning them by hand... If anybody's interested, I can post a pic of the ones I have. The Cman pro and Gearwrench non-flex ones I have by now are in a different league. This need to replace the flex ones, though.
