NASHVILLE, Tennessee — It's too big to be a holiday stocking stuffer. But Nissan has come up with an unusual accessory for fans of the Nissan GT-R: a $5,971 toolbox.

Starting this week, Nissan said its certified GT-R dealers will begin selling a Snap-on Limited Edition Nissan GT-R toolbox. Only 635 of the toolboxes are available, and they are for GT-R owners only.

The toolbox has a giant image of the GT-R emblazoned on its drawers. "Let your toolbox be the trophy," says a Nissan brochure advertising the item. More prosaic versions of the Snap-on toolbox are on sale on eBay at prices ranging from $1,300-$3,000.

So they put it on a KRA series box, I guess the potential owners have to save money some place after paying for the transmission damage that Nissan wont warranty.

HAHA...I remember the first of the M3's with SMG, the car's computer would keep track of how many times you used the launch control. If you exceeded a certain number (6 if I recall) they tore up the warantee. I guess Nissan knows well that they have no clue on how to make a sturdy transmission. Funny how they can make a motor that can take a gazillion lbs. of boost, but make their trannies out of tissue paper.

I forget who's making the current versions... but they need a different sub to engineer the things. I dunno. I think they need Kojima back on the transmission engineering team ;) haha

And then they castrated the US version to only launch a much lower revs...
My E46 doesn't have SMG, so I can drop the clutch at whatever revs I please :) :) :)
I test drove an SMG one and wasn't happy. At the lower shift speeds my granny
shifts quicker and in the fastest setting it's too jerky. Plus I never got over the whole
disconnected feeling...

Skyline, which Skyline version do you have? Those things are really cool. Ordered a GT-R,
yet? :)

I have printed up toolbox wraps (my company does vehicle wraps, wall art, etc), and can do whatever images someone wants. Cheaper if you don't have to replace your box :)

Yeah he used to work for a Nissan sub contractor working on transmission designs, etc.
