Any recommendations?

Saw these and seemed like a good deal.

I have a set that looks just like that. The bad news is they take SMALL hog rings, not the standard ones you can actually buy at hardware stores.
I've used them by 'starting' the rings with a big pair of pliers to get them small enough to use, then useing these.
Honestly I get more use out of regular cheap hog ring pliers like you can buy at most hardware stores.

Same here. Made of cast iron and they sure as hell didn't cost $28.

Yea, that's gonna be my use. Had to take apart a BMW seat and gonna try to weld the broken frame and then reinstall. Not too many hog rings, but enough to warrant a new tool purchase.

when you buy your hog rings get the "pig" size. the "hog" size is too large.

I'm thinking 3/8" is the right size, but I will have to bring the old ones in to compare. Not sure what 3/8" is a measure of....

Mine look identical to this one but they are not comfortable at all; if you do allot of work, your hands start hurting pretty quick, I don't think they have enough leverage.

Here is a interesting page I found about upholstery work; looks like from our sister site: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=168060

I guess there are some nicer options out there:

I suspect which of the three common upholstery variations work best will depend on the seats you are trying to fix. Make sure to use quality stainless hog rings, some rust pretty easily.

I've been tearing apart a bunch of old leather seats, and its given me a load of respect for people that can correctly repair upholstery.

My original factory (or what appears to be original factory) rings are copper. Hopefully I can find stainless as that would be a nice option. If you have a source for stainless rings, let me know.

This is the style seat I'm repairing, except in black leather. Nice seat, but the frames are notorious for breaking as is mine.

Ive used ones from Blue Point - YA808-. They work on all sizes and do a really nice job. Can't remember how much I paid but couldn't have been too much, Im as cheap as they come. I did quite a bit of trim work as a line tech.
