I was browsing through all the specialty tools last night and ran across this, Right Angle Impact adapter. It works with any 1/2" drive impact socket and an air hammer. I'm not sure I like the air hammer, but the right angle socket drive on a lever you can smack with a hammer looks good.

I like that idea. I remember BWP posted about that before. Can you attach a slide hammer to it if you don't have air?

Best price I have found is $47 shipped at

Knowing Lisle for that kind of money it must be pretty sturdy. How much hammering can it take and will I need my hand down in there to keep the socket on a nut?

I would not be able to trust a Lisle impact tool. I had a Lisle 41500 Pickle Fork Kit.
Below is a picture of what happened to a tie rod separator I was using in 2004 with my air hammer and yes I was wearing safety glasses. I have since used only bits in the air hammer that have made in the USA stamped on them.
Here’s how Lisle describes tool: For Separating Ball Joints, Tie Rods, Pitman Arms and Other Uses.
Six tools in one for exceptional versatility and value. Kit consists of three forks and two handles; one for hammering, the other for use with an air hammer (.401" shank). All forks are threaded to interchange with either handle. Forks are heavy-duty forgings, handles are heat-treated alloy steel.
Shipping Weight: 3 lb. 15 oz.
Suggested Retail: $ 47.95
UPC Code: 083045415008

Good to know. I have the same kit and oddly I was using it today to pop off some 1 ton TRE's on my crawler truck. It looks like I already mangled the tip of the small one using a 5lb nupla hammer. I havnt used them with my IR air hammer. Think I will pass now. Thanks! Also mushroomed the handle a little and today was the second time using the set. I wonder if there is a similar USA kit, OTC maybe?

Guess I will wait until I break the Lisle stuff then.

I have a number of Old Forge bits which I use in my air hammer. They say "U.S.A." on them. I don't know if that means they are made in the USA or Old Forge is a USA company. So far I not had any shatter or break when I've used them.

Stuff in a air hammer is going to break from time to time. Before I give up on Lisle I would see if they warranty a broken item.
With a fork if its a bit large so the fork doesn't slide between, but instead catches the edges forcing the tines apart, its going to break.
