I have had this Action for 30 plus years. Same style as a Thorsen. I can't figure out how to take it apart to grease it. There are no clips or screws.
Can this style be taken apart?

There is a pin going thru the selector, drive it out with a punch. The gear I have no idea how it comes out.

Well, the gear is open so all you have to do is slip the cover off. They can easily be cleaned and greased even with the cover on though.

i believe the head comes out by driving the anvil out with a punch as well the gear can then be pulled out of the body. i dont see a reason to dissasemble though since everyting is out in the open.

The spring does tend to get gunked with crud and needs to be taken out and cleaned.

This is what I would call an open design.
There is a pin for the selector pawl that makes it change direction. I can move that pin a bit with just my finger. If I drive out that pin to remove the selector pawl then a spring and ball is going to fly out.
With 3 screwdrivers and my 3 hands I got the cover off the head. Still can figure out how the ratchet core/gear was put in unless it is some press fit.
Going to need 4 screwdrivers and 4 hands to put the cap back on....

They are not that bad to take apart.

I cleaned the teeth. Then lubed it with a greaselss lubricant that claims not to attract dirt..
Getting the cover back on was simple, unlike removing it. Used lock ring pliers to expand the cover a bit and slid it back in place.
This is not a fancy expensive ratchet. No fine tooth action here. A simple design that works.

I have one, and aside from the dust cover rattling to beat the band, it seems very simple and sturdy.
