Kinda wondering since NG prices are up....but here in Wisconsin we've had a pretty mild winter.

Last year I heated all 1500 sq. ft. of my shop....1/3'rd has a uninsulated ceiling.

I installed my radiant tube heater in December. I left it on all month long so I could see what it would cost to heat the shop fulltime. I turned the temp down at night...back to about 70 during the day.

I was only home about two weeks during the month so for one-half of the month it was turned down but kept about 45 degrees.

The average temperature for the month was 11 degrees.

It cost me......$345.00!!!!!

This year I'm heating 1000 sq. ft. The heat was on all month long....down at night...70 during the day.

Again, I was home about two weeks.

The month of December the average temperature for the month was 16 degrees.

It cost me $66.00....just a little better...Thank God...

I can't say for sure what my bill would be for ONLY the garage since it's tied into the house gas. It's been really mild up here except for the beginning of Dec which was pretty cold. And of course, that's when I epoxied my floor, so the shop heat was cranking for about 1 month (had it up to 75 at times to keep the floor warm). Bill for the month was $475. :eyecrazy: My wife almost castrated me... I almost commited suicide to avoid the pain.

Since the floor has been done, I've dropped the temp WAY down. Gas bill is now around $150 or so... keep in mind everything in my house is gas...the ovens, the dryer, the heat, the garage heat, the water heater....

Last year it cost around 25-30 a month to keep the shop warm (50* or so). I just paid the Dec bill and it was 67, BUT, I have been out there a lot more during the week and usually all weekend long. I can't compare apples to apples but I'm not complaining. I don't ever kick the furnace up past 57 or 58* anyways as the shop is very comfortable at that temp when I am working.

I like it "toasty" when I'm out there. I spent too MANY years building race cars in unheated garages and outside...

I'm usually in short sleeves...that radiant tube heat feels really nice on the "old bones"...sometimes I HAVE to turn it down 'cuz it gets too toasty...
