How would you rate professional tools? Obviously Snap On would be considered #1. I am guessing Mac # 2 and Matco # 3, but those are the only dealers we have here in my area of Virginia.

Snap-on tools are the best money can buy, but I like some of the stuff from other makers as well. I think Cornwell would be rated higher in your survey if more of the guys on this board have had the chance to use them. ;)

Stahlwille and Hazet both make tools I prefer to Snapon, and some vice versa. Knipex makes Snapon and Craftsman pliers, so no point in rating a brand.

How about Armstrong? Shouldn't they also be included as "professional" tools? Oh, I see "other."

What time frame are we talking about tools made today or yesterday (40's?) I like snap on today, but liked plomb in the 20's-50's. So then I would go with plomb, today I would go with snap on.

Proto makes most of the hand tools I prefer and they have started making sockets with decent sized marking so I can stand using those as well. Otherwise Klein for screwdrivers and most pliers. IR or Nitrocat for most air tools and Bosch or Milwakee for most electrical tools.

Cornwell,Hazet, and Wiha....Snap-on are good tools, but they come with a headache. Craftsman is a good bread and butter standby.

These polls are kinda useless... just read all the posts. You'll know what everybody uses.

So true, look at me, I have a bit of all brands, (except the foreign ones) and I like every one of them! :)

I like Snap on ratchets and sockets, Cornwell ratchets, LOVE the 1/2" industrial I have. But I like Mac's wrenches. Just feel better to me.

Proto, because they last, I have some from way back that I still use hard. Snap on seems to be good, but kind of an elitist tool, call me anything you want, but I'll never pay the price for snappy, other tools out their that are just as good if not better, for instance like facom ratchets. JMO

It's Nice to have a little bit of everything, I mean how do you know if you like or dislike something unless you try it? In my Opinion Any way's.
But people like what they like and its that simple people buy what they like and makes them happy, Amen
