So I was at Sears the other day getting a gift for my buddy, and on the way out I noticed something that looked kinda familiar... a ratcheting screwdriver. I bought one from Snap-on about 15 years ago, and have loved it ever since.

Has anyone used the Craftsman model? A quick glance looked real, real similar to the Snap-on.

Also, does Snap-on still sell their ratcheting screwdriver? At one time I had a pistol-grip ratcheting screwdriver, and it locked up. The dealer said that was a problem with them.

I've since lost the pistol grip one, but it was possibly one of the very best tools I ever owned.

Don't even bother with that Craftsman, just get the Snap-on or the Williams.

I have that red handled one you are speaking of. I love it, it works great, fine tooth and smooth feel. I would love to have a Snappy, but as smooth as this one is there is no way I could ever justify the extra expense of the Snap-on.

Go ahead and pick one up, you will not be a bit disappointed!

+1 on the Craftsman unless you can find the Snappy at a huge discount.

I have several snap-on ratcheting ones and like them, but my dad just bought the blue-point one and IMO it feels MUCH better than any ratcheting screwdriver I've used previously. Something to add to your list of considerations.

Thank you Krusty. Yea I forgot about that deal, unfortunately for me I bought the Craftsman model over a year back and it works great so I see no point in ditching it to get the Snappy. I would say if I found the Snappy first I would have bought it for that price in a hurry though.

Sears had the large Gearwrench ratcheting screwdriver set on sale for around $15 before Christmas. I think it's back up to $25 now. The black Craftsman ratcheting screwdriver set is almost identical to the Gearwrench model. The Gearwrench models are not as good as the Snap on ones but, they work great for their price. I think the handle is a little on the large side though.

I have several ratcheting screwdrivers. For the money the Sears is a very good deal. You won't go wrong. Just make sure you check the ratchet action before you buy as the quality seems to vary between units.

I also have the GearWrench set from Sears. I lusted after that for almost a year and now that I have it I'm a bit disappointed to be honest. Get the red CMan.

I wrote a review of several units in the thread http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26448
