The 45k units are $322.49 at Northern right now. I just got back a ~$46 credit on their 30 day price guarantee since I paid $369 3 weeks ago. Seems like a bargain to me!

I sent you, ponjohn and Goobzilla messages informing you of this. Norhtern had sent me a sale e-mail. Unfortunately, I bought mine on 12-16 so I'm past the 30 day deadline but they did refund me $30 a couple weeks ago when they dropped the price then. Gotta love working in a nice warm shop.

They must be clearing them out for the end of winter I suppose. It is darn nice to have heat in the garage now. I don't have an excuse not to get work done out there now!

I bet if you call them and tell them you wanted to order one at 379 and it was backordered so you did not order one they will honor the price.
Worth a shot.

It was worth a shot, I called and whined, but they won't go for it. I'll watch the ads and maybe get one this summer.

BTW, I finally got mine installed and it is AWESOME. Even at $430 it's totally worth it!

I agree. It is AWESOME. It's 25 degrees out and my neighbor has his Ford Lightning on my lift installing a turbo (I guess 11:50's weren't fast enough). I went up to my shop and he's up there in shorts and a T-shirt :shocking:

Hello southern neighbours! Just reading about the "Big Maxx" heaters , and am curious about how efficient they run. Since the gas companies are nailing us all with higher rates etc, not sure which way to go as far as heating my third/seperated bay I am planning to build in the spring, since it gets pretty chilly up where I am.
Any input appreciated!

It's amazing how popular you become when word gets out you've got heat :rocker:
Kind of like when the nerdy kid's family got a pool and he instantly zoomed up the social ladder

Based on the specs I think they are 80% efficient. Not sure if that is the number you are looking for?

Thanks Scott, that's what I wanted to see. There is many options, yet some are pretty costly, and inefficient. Thanks.

Who's your neighbor? I have a Ford Lightning but with a ported stock blower on mine...

p.s. I heat my garage with a 30k ventless natural gas unit.. works good except the occasional fume buildup..

Would it be better to have the 75k btu one or the 45k btu one?
I'm thinking the larger one would heat up a cold MN garage quicker, and then not have to run as often as the smaller one. Maybe an efficiency thing that would save a bit of money in the long run?
Anybody got any ideas on that sort of thing...?

Steve Stock. He's a moderator on the Lightning forum and the install of the turbo is documented there.
