If anyone knows what brand these might be or who makes them, I want to try to get them warrantied, assuming their eligible. Or at least get the replacement part. Thanks.

Those are KD more than likely, they rebrand those for the other tool companies.

Without a brand or anything, you are gonna have a hard time getting those warrantied by anybody. The good news is that those pliers are cheap... in the end it might be easier to simply buy a new pair rather than chasing your tail trying to warranty those.

If they are KD (and they do look like them), replacement tip sets are available if you don't want to replace the pliers themselves.

9 pair set (http://www.tooltopia.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=28439)

5 pair set (http://www.tooltopia.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=28438)

3 pair set (http://www.tooltopia.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=28455)

I thought tips were pretty universal..

Is it broke? or did you lose one piece?

My guess is that they are, but I only have one pair of replaceable tip snap ring pliers (Channellock) and nothing to compare them to. The first replacement tips I came across were KD. :dunno:

That's what I'm trying to do:thumbup:

Thanks guys for the info.

Yes, they broke! I've got another pair that broke too (Mac), and the guy "lost" the one half of the damn pair of pliers (he claims). Same as a S-O model I have. I'm just going through a box of broken tools trying to warranty what I can. Been getting a lot of Proto taken care of.

I don't know for sure but lately, I have been picking up Matco/Cornwell specialty pliers and I think I may have figured out who the OEM for them is; each plier has a hexagon logo stamped on them and the grips have the Matco/Cornwell logo/part # on them. Imperial/Stride tools might be a possibility; they use the spring configuration on their handles... who knows! :) I could be totally off base here but they do sell replacement tips: http://www.rotowrench.com/tools/retaining_pliers/tippliers_07.html
Sears sells replacement tips as well: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/search_10153_12605?keyword=retaining+ring+pliers&gobutton.x=0&gobutton.y=0&gobutton=find#viewItems=21&pageNum=2&sortOption=ORIGINAL_SORT_ORDER

Is there a patent # on them; you might search the # and see if a company comes up: http://www.google.com/patents

I wonder what the Mac man would say were I to step on the truck and ask for a replacement:bounce::shocking::rocker:
