It was nice out so I went pawn shopping. I picked up some Knipex pliers, a set of Matco race punches, 2 Matco tap and die sets, a pair of Snap-On long reach pliers, Cornwell hog ring pliers, and a brass deadblow that I think is Cornwell. I even left some bargains for someone else. I wonder how they keep the lights on when they practically give this stuff away. I still had change from the $100 I took with me.

Great deal ! Just how does that work ? Were they priced that good and you just grabbed them or do you deal with them ?
Last time I stopped at a pawn shop prices were real high . I didnt get it ?
That was years ago.

She is a REAL miniature girl. She is learning how to grab things and insert them into her mouth.

They had all of this stuff labeled as "no name tools" and priced as such. Then they cut the marked price down further since I had a pile.
I thought Snap-On, Knipex, Matco, and Cornwell were "Name Brands" It depends on who takes the toolbox in as to what the contents are priced at. It also depends on the store, some price at 75% of retail and others like this one at 20% of retail.

So are all the pawn shop guys in Iowa just giving it all away, or just the guys you deal with? Jeeez, I guess Topeka has all the real con men, no bargains to be found singly, let alone by the cart load here! BTW: YOU SUCK!

Wait until she gets into junior high or high school and wants shopping money. Anything but free.
My wife is an only child. Right after we got married, my mother in law started adding up the amount of money that she knew they spent on her in the previous few years like 4 years of college, majority of the price of two cars, a wedding, etc. Got depressed when the number came dangerously close to 6 figures and gave up before counting their down payment investment in our house.

I think the one near me prices their stuff at 125% of retail! :lol_hitti

It must be getting really bad when they start pawning babies at the hock shops.
Around here, people are abandoning their pets at the end of deadend streets like crazy. The nice owners abandon their dogs at the dog pounds and they are running out of room.

"Name Brands" and "No Name Tools" it all depends on who priced them. I was at a junk store and there was basket full of sockets and wrenches. I started to mill through the contents and the lady came up and said all the Craftsman tools are gone, good thing I guess because someone left all the Proto, Plumb, Wright and so on stuff for me :)

Yep... I just adopted a dog from the pound a few days ago... They were totally full, and the dog I got was scheduled to be put down the next day. The lady said that she doesn't remember ever having to put down an adoptable dog in the past, but now nearly half of the dogs they get are put down. They give them 2 weeks, and then they put them down to make room for the new ones coming in. :(

This all came from the Stockyards Sols on L street in Omaha. I usually plan my sprees around going to Omaha for something business related and then hit 4 or 5 Pawn Shops that are "along the way"
I have browsed at shops in Ames and Iowa City where they thought they were tool trucks. They had prices at full retail for abused tools.
The Knipex plier wrench is the 12" size, they lowered it to $10. There were 5 or 6 Cobra pliers, but I passed on them.

What a steal... It's interesting, though. I had never looked at the 12" version close up. The "nub" that moves the jaw is significantly bigger than in the 10" version. Should handle more force and the 12" length offsets the lower leverage... Enjoy!

You have a beautiful baby girl. (obviously)
You got a good deal on the tools. (also obvious)
Most of the pawn shops around me use the MARY LOUISE code on each price tag to tell the employee how much that the shop paid for the item. Where M=1, A=2, and so on. (AEEE = $20.00) I have been wondering if shops in other areas do this also.
