What do you guys think of the curved handle? It seems like it would put your wrist in more of a comfortable, relaxed angle. It looks comfy. :dunno:

That is the Murray's angle.............;)
They sell a version like that at Murray's discount auto parts.

Looks like a harbor freight 1/2" that I have in my trailer mounted toolbox.

Me thinks Merkava is really checking out Toptul and is about to take the plunge and buy one to see what all the fuss is about. Maybe compare pictures to his real world hand to see if he likes.
I own the 3 sized of the gearless ratchet from Toptul, and I would say are my nicest ratchets to date. Although getting use to the gear lever to switch direction I have to get used to. I like my hand on the end of the ratchet and once it switched to opposite direction.
Anyway, I think it is time for you to buy a ratchet and see what many have been saying.

I've seen offset handled ratchets from SK, Harbor Freight and others. If nothing else it may give you a little knuckle clearance.

I actually have a 3/8" great neck version of this ratchet that they use to sell years ago at autozone and I like it, I actually use it regularly. I have been considering getting the Toptul versions in 1/4 and 1/2 to go along with it.
PS sorry for not introducing myself yet but I've been lurking around for a while now and I can say I have learned a lot from everyone here, and my bank account has suffered for it... :lol_hitti

Yeah I have a few Great Necks and some Duralast stuff, but since finding this forum I have been trying some other brands like my new Proto Big Dawg 1/4 and 1/2 are among my favorites, still waiting to find the 3/8. Next up on the list will probably be the SO FH80 that everyone speaks so highly of.

Sorry to drag up the old topic, but my search doesn't show any reviews on these. Anyone have any conclusions on this yet??? Surely someone on here has one of these (Or two. Or seven).

I would be willing to buy Merk a toptul ratchet for him to give us a fair and unbiased review of the quality of the build and lets us know how well you can polish it and if it shows the fingerprints or not.

I'm surprised Merk is showing this much interest in a tool with a hole in the handle.

Do you have any actual experience with these ratchets, or are you just spewing the typical anti-chinese bullshit with nothing to back it up?

I like my toptul ratchets, would they beat a dual 80 or wera, no. But they do beat most c-mans any day of the week. Also they are made in Taiwan not china.

Perhaps I should rephrase my question -
I've seen lots of favourable comments on Toptul stuff, and plenty of high praise for Mike Wren's service, but all of the comments I've seen on ratchets appear to have referred to the regular or flex-head ratchets with the pear-head design. Was wondering if anyone had experience with the round-head-curved-handle Toptul ratchets???

I have that ratchet in 1/4 drive. IMHO, I think it is way better than my 72 tooth Craftsman Pro. Never used a dual 80 or Matco 88, so I cant really compare it to those, but I think it is as smooth as my SO 72 tooth. It does take a little getting used to the directional button on top of the head as previously stated. On the other hand, the black knurled ring around the top comes in handy in tight spaces:thumbup:

What 72 tooth craftsman pro ratchet do you have? I don't believe there is such a thing.

BWright- My bad! It is the "Thin Profile Ratchet", and it is only a 60 tooth. I was under the impression that they were a 72 tooth. Guess I learned something today:beer:Either way I like the TOPTUL bette:bounce:r

The Toptul ratchets are all fairly nice, I have two of this style 1/4 and 3/8. I also have the extra long styles and gearless and they are all very very good.

I used to have that ratchet in 1/4" about 3 or 4 years ago under the brand name JET. I say "used to" because I threw it across the shop in a fit of rage when I couldn't change the direction with greasy/oily hands, I never bothered to go look for it again. The handle was kinda nice sometimes because it gave you knuckle clearence and the ratchet felt smooth and precise but the lack of a grip on the direction selector was a deal breaker for me. Plus like mikevango said it looks like a toy, not a pro tool.

@Nissan crawler
I worked with this model from 2 other ripp off brands in germany...every ratchet was broken after some days of daily auto work.
It has nothing to do with "anti chinese".

Mike - unless you have intimate knowledge of a tool's deficiency, then your statement is mere conjecture and should be discounted by the rest of us. I will admit that i do not have any experience with TOPTUL products, but I am willing and open to the COLECTIVE wisdom of the group here at GJ. You would be well advised to listen to this group. They are one smart community and when they speak, I take notice. Toptul's, from everything discussed on this board, are fine tools and distributor Mike is the best. Please rethink your position.

I'm gonna find out. Soon as some of the Xmas bills get sorted out, I'm gonna call Mike and get some stuff, one of these in 3/8" drive included. I need another ratchet like a hole in the head, by why else would I be here?

ok sorry for my opinion. but i do like USA tools. buying toptul because they sponsor our site and the guy is nice to me doesn't justify buying a tawian ratchet.

Agreed my friend. I'm just saying judge a tool by it's quality as opposed to strictly by the COO. I love USA tools and 99.9% of mine are just that. All I'm saying is back up opinion with facts. When it comes to tool quality, it is what it is.
