Supposedly it's on sale. It's a 50 foot, 3/8" black hose. MADE IN THE USA.
I bought one of them and a set of the $1.99 adapters (sorry, made in China). The adapters don't seem to fit very well... I can't get them all the way screwed on. Figures.

As ususal Kartracer's right, they're pipe threads.

Which means?.... they get tighter the more you turn?

The more you turn them, the tighter they are wedged into the taper, so the taper is what helps to make the seal.
There is alot more to taper thread fittings than I am qualified to talk about, but Im pretty sure the taper is 3/4 of an inch over 1 ft. Honestly, I dont know where the sizing comes from, Maybe Elroy does, but its got nothing to do with the actual size.

Its 1/4 inch pipe thread. You put sealer or thread tape on the male threads, and tighen up with a wrench till its tight. It it doesn't leak, you are OK, thats basically how pipe threads works.

they're not supposed to screw on all the way
camon now, the chinese can't possibly screw up an adapter

How did Elroy get appointed? Well Mr. Jim is correct and I commend him. National pipe thread is tappered 3/4" per foot on the diameter. But even made up tight standard pipe thread will leak along the sprial path at the root of the thread. Unless the thread is manufactured in the "dry seal" configuration. Typically pipe fitting are NOT the dry seal. That is why some type of thread sealer is required to get a 100% seal. But yes pipe thread is tappered.

Yea, yea, I know they're not supposed to screw on ALL the way, but this one would barely screw on. I tested it against a craftsman I had lying around and the craftsman screwed on more. I guess it's just a difference in design.

Nope: That would be due to crap manufacturing tolerence.

Does the package say NPT or NPS? T for taper, S for straight. Dont ask me why the straight thread exists, but it does. Also, if it has an F suffix to it, it is dryseal threads. I remember reading that the NPS threads have a different angle than the NPT threads do.

Ah, but the important thing-do the hoses make your hands stink after you handle them? Cannot stand hoses that stink and every black hose I ever owned did that where the red hoses didn't Make sense to anyone?

I think all rubber hoses will smell, I know my red one did

I just got back from my local Sears. I was there for a different reason, but walking down the aisle found their Craftsman brand air hose on special - HALF off - $12.49. 3/8" by 50ft. Lifetime Warrantee.

Okay... back to the Goodyear hoses at HF....
I have two of them. One that I bought on sale a year ago, and another that I just picked up. They are definitely worth the $15! I don't know what you guys mean about the hose stinking... I never noticed that, but I make it a point not to go around smelling hoses
As far as the HF fittings.... don't get them out of the bins at the front of the store. Go back to the air tool area and choose your fittings there. i think HF actually carries CH and Amflo, IIRC.

I'm pretty impressed. The hose is nice and light for a 3/8". Flow is noticably better than my old 1/4".
I bought the CP 5 piece fitting set. I may go out tomorrow and get some better fittings... these just don't feel like they're on the hose enough.

I disagree
Dunlop is a division of goodyear and I was turning some pretty good times when I ran dunlop compounds. Then the track stopped accepting them as a "club tire" :dunno: The cunstruction of thier tires, kart tires at least, is excellent. Superstiff sidewall, Id say half as much tire roll as Bridgestones, MG, Vega, and Maxxis. I could heat cycle them 10-15 times and they might lose a 10th after all that. I was actually wearing the tires out before the compound broke down too much, which is unheardoff with other brands

I'll repharse, Goodyear branded tires. I didn't realize Goodyear had a stake in Dunlop.

Since we're off topic anyway....
I had a set of BF Goodrich tires on my wife's Grand Prix that were terrible. I took them back as warranty items to Discount Tire and they put a new set of Goodyear Assurance tires on in place. Best damn tires yet. Oh... and for the performance tire folks, check out the Goodyear F1 GSD3. That's what's going on the Vette when I get the $$$ together.

I have had 2 sets of the 25 foot goodyear hoses from Harbor Freight for a couple years now. They are leaking at... I don't know how to explain it. The part that actually connects into the hose itself, and it not, from what I can tell, fixable. It bugs the crap outta me so I am gonna replace them soon. For what I paid though, they are great.

As long as it's rubber hose just cut the ends off and get some barb fittings problem solved.

I was thinking about doing it a crimp on style fitting, but by the time I buy that stuff, I could have just gotten a new air hose. I spent a lot of time at the dealer chasing around the air hose because the tech I was working under didn't want to fix it right, kept using hose clamps.

They are. the KDWs are supposed to be good for autox IIRC. But the BFGs that were on my wife's car definitely were not of the same quality.

I agree with Jim. I run Dunlops on my 600RR, and they keep the bike stuck to the track very well. And I'm not just saying this because I live 10 minutes from the factory.
