I agree. Even if it was all SO, I still don't see 40k worth there.

I think both of the figures he has came up with are greatly exaggerated.

The guy must be smokin crack.
Edit: I would go more than $1500, but no where close to $40k.

If he spent 625,000.00 on that little punch of tools i think the phrase is "They saw you coming"(in a Chinese accent) Ill go with Blacknwhitepit 1500$ tops there. the boxes are worth that at least with some of the more socket sets.

I well I will not say how many years of stocking farm shops with multiple boxes, pickups, machines etc with enough tools I have spent 6 figures on tools, but with enough tools to fill about 20 times the boxes here and support tools such as welders, compressors, etc. The number is still only a fifth to a quarter figure.
I wonder if that figure includes the weekly interest for 40 years?

i find it curious that he is organised enough to file way 40 years of reciepts but he has piles of wrenches and sockets in differnet drawers. if i had over half a million dollars in tools it would be a little more organised than that.
i don't know what a mechanic makes a year but $625,000 would take a looong freaking time to pay off. that's $15,000 a year for 40 years. or $1,300 a month in freaking tool payments!!! for 40 years!!!!!
625k must be some kinda messed up inflated value. say i paid $100 for a tool 40 years ago, adjusted for inflation it's now worth $25,000
i think the guy's loosing his marbles... maybe that's why he no longer uses them

I have seen sets with boxes like that go for 1800.00 to 2600.00 on ebay. That is outrageous, the tools look pretty battered on top of it. Hell you can buy a set with a MUCH better box, and enough tools to do most anything for 20K, like the Cornwell master set. That would be brand new.

Maybe he was including the cost of those rugs that the chests were sitting on.

Damn, I guess I came too late to the party. I have to agree with all the responders to this one. When I read the post about the $625,000, for that money I thought I'd find some familiar "tools" like some pre-owned front end loaders, bull dozers, buckets, fork lifts, and dump trucks I used to use for seawall and jetty construction. Sadly, his offerings won't be building our harbors any time soon.

625K:wtf: In fairness to the seller though I don't think he opened all the drawers. The ones ommited may be full of heroin and diamonds. Hell, the whole package may actually turn out to be a bargin for 40K.:bounce:

I think you're on to something. Maybe included are some of those ebay Snap-on hard handled ratchets? :spit:

Hate to be the voice of reason, but maybe it was a typo and he meant $62,500? Seems more likely to me given the amount and the asking price.
