Anyone using this compressor??? The reviews are not the greatest, but it seems like a good deal. I can go with it or get a 80 gallon 2 stage Campbell Hausfeld for $530.

Thanks

I would stay away from any oil free, direct drive compressors for a full sized unit. Even the "good" ones are loud and short lived compared to most compressors with an oil lubricated pump.

^^ What he said is why I upgraded to belt driven oil lubed, and I'm so thankful I did, and so is my wife who is frequently in the Living Area or Kitchen right over the garage while the compressor runs. Plan on wearing earplugs while it runs if you get it.

Belt Driven Oil Lubed Runs less, quieter, cooler. And if something ever breaks, you can replace just that part with a common generic replacment part (pump, belt, or motor), whereas with a Sears DirectDrive you are going to be getting the parts directly from them, which can be so much $$ you end up scrapping the compressor.

I would much rather have the bottom end CH or Kobalt at Lowes that runs ~$400-$500 than that Craftsman.

FWIW though I had the 33 gallon 120Volt Vertical Craftsman for about 5 years, used it pretty hard on some weekends, and the only thing I ever replaced was the pressure switch, ~$45.

That model is made by Devilbiss, and it is a good oil-free unit. Much better than some of the other Craftsman oil-free jobs. But, if you can get a CH two stage oil lubed unit for $530, then that's the one I would get. Is it new, used or reconditioned? FYI, CH started putting chinese pumps on many of their larger models recently. As much as I hate to admit it, those chinese pumps are very quiet.

It's a new CH unit. It's a "Non Stock" item where my brother works and with his discount it puts it at $530. Looks like I'll probably be getting it then!!

Thanks for all of the info guys!

I have a oil free pump and HAAAATTTTTEEEEE it, i can't wait to upgrade. Stay away from it at all costs. You can pick up a Husky 60 gallon single stage for about 450 at Homedepot.

If I were going to get a C-man 60 gallon I'd get this one.

It has a higher scfm rating so it would keep up better.
On the other hand the 2 stage oilless is the quietest air compressor I've ever heard.

Actually the two stage oil-less compressors from Sears are pretty quiet .. the single stage on the other hand will drive you out of the garage .. :)

You can carry on a conversation next to one running and you are not shouting ..

I just bought a Porter Cable model c7550 at Lowes for $599 on clearance. Reg. price $899. It says 15.6 cfm @ 100psi.. Two stage compressor made by Devilbiss. If you Google Porter Cable c7550 you can find a pic and more info.

I wonder if they will match the price from another Lowes store? I paid for mine Friday. I'm near K.C. MO. Where did you buy yours?? I'd love to try to beat them out of $60.

Just walking through the store. I thought I'd see what they had to offer. I was looking for a deal on a compressor. Seems to be a good machine.

Well I hit the 2 closest me this morning and nada.Had the manager check the computer. Not a single one in Northern California.

The part that I dont understand is that they stock the Porta Cable Pancake and the
26 gallon

Kobalt 80 Gallon

CH 60 and 80 gallon units but not the one I need in the whole state.

I knew it was too good to be true.

I bought mine in Independence, Missouri. They still have one left. I think they are going to carry the Kobalt in the bigger compressors only. ???
