What would you pay for this used compressor?

Went to a business closing to look at some warehouse shelving off craigslist and they had that puppy sitting in the corner. I'm hoping the lady doesn't know what she has. She wasn't there when I stopped by (just her mother there to make sure no one stole anything). Haven't had a chance to go over it anymore than getting model numbers off it and giving it a good once over.

What would you pay for that compressor in unknown condition? I hope she'll let me take a closer look at it and see what kind of condition its in, it was all boxed up on a pallet that looked like it hadn't moved in a good 10 years.

Thats a darn nice compressor. Only 750RPM=quiet running.
I'd start at $500. If she balks, I'd go to $750.
Even if the compressor itself needs valves or a rebuild, thats cheap compared to anything that even comes close to that quality.

That's what I was thinking. Only thing that sucks is I bet I'll have to buy it and take it somewhere to hook up first cause I'm pretty sure they don't have 3 phase. Doesn't look like its moved in YEARS.

Great industrial compressor, but it may be too big -- it's a 10HP 3-phase motor driving that pump. Unless you have three phase power, coming up with a reasonably priced and suitable 220v single phase motor and magnetic starter will get expensive - 7.5 HP is about as good as it gets with most 220v compressors, but there are some compressors that do have 10 HP single phase motors. They are expensive!!

You might want to price a 10 hp single phase motor (and additional electric service if you don't have enough) before you attempt to buy this.

What if you put a 7.5 hp single phase 220v motor on that compressor-would the output simply be 75% of the output from a 10hp 3phase motor? SKip

Might want to contact the manufacturer of the compressor and see if they ever optioned that same setup using a 220V single phase motor and get the specs.

Was mainly just planning on cleaning it up and turning it around to sell. My little garage would choke trying to swallow this thing up haha. Thanks to all for the advice though.
