Anyone willing to share some good pawn shops in MA to look for tool deals? I do not live in an area with many pawn shops and do not know where to look...
Cheers!

Head to Boston and the suburbs. Check the yellow pages for locations. I haven't found any good ones in Central or Wester MA, and I have looked for years. Most want almost as much as new for used tools. Only time I have ever gotten a deal is if I was willing to drop multiple hundreds of dollars on a large amount of tools. The last time, I spent almost $500, and after I made the purchase, I saw a piece of jewelry for the wife. He wouldn't accept my offer, so I suggest that he talk to the owner. The owner came out and said yes, since I spend heavy when I do buy..

Pawn shops in Worcester are ridiculous.
Although, while not a pawn shop, the Tool Shed (http://www.used-tools.com/) has some pretty good deals, I've bought a lot of stuff there. The owner is a really nice guy.
I have no affiliation with this place other than being a satisfied customer.
Not many one in Salem , two in Lynn, one is Saugus, one rumored to be in Mhead and Beverly sadly you never see many hand tools mostly power tools abused to the max and $10 under the price of new.
Car swaps and flea markets are best bets.

I've been to the Tool Shed, and his prices are on the high side for most name brand stuff. He will not negotiate on price, and his attitude is take it or leave it. I have seen a lot of things there that I would buy, except that the price was too close to new pricing. The only time he ever drops the price is if it is large and it isn't moving. He has had Snap On boxes that he thinks are gold, but after 2 weeks he will drop the price. Problem is that you have to be there when that happens, because he will never let you know when the price will drop, or how low. If you see something on the video, you have to be there when he opens, since he will not hold anything for anyone. I was told that his original store that was in Waltham and he sold, is much easier to deal with. Haven't been there yet.. Both Worcester and Waltham are too far away to go to very often..

I live in Waltham - about a mile from that store. They never seem to have anything worthwhile.
There is one in Lowell that can be hit or miss as well.
