Okay, since the topic was raised in another thread, and it got good responses, how about it?

Where in Atlanta (North West preferably) are good spots to find old tools? I have found 1 pawn shop in Alpharetta and that's it. I have yet to find a flea market around here anywhere. I looked in the phone book and on line. All of the pawns are title pawns.

So, how about it guys. Care to fill an Atlanta newcomer in?

I used to go to a flea market in Kennesaw on 19/41 around the steam engine exhibit. I've noticed its very hard to find decent tools in pawn shops. I think they sell on

Hey, neighbor - the few pawn shops we have in our neck of the woods are sparse at best with regard to hand tools; mostly overpriced used worn-out power tools.

Haven't been up there lately, but the Dixie 400 flea market (400N before Dawsonville) used to have a few dealers in there with some old hand tools. They're only open Fri-Sun, though.

Thanks for the info. Where is the Dixie one. Can you see it from 400? Is it open and running yet? (I assume its an out door market.) I'll search on the web for it too.

Go 400 north until it no longer becomes limited access (freeway). Once you hit the first light, just keep an eye out to the left; is about a mile or so. It's several old chicken houses converted into a flea market....and "rustic" ain't the word for it. Floors are still dirt, covered with a multicolor tapestry of old carpet scraps. For heat in the winter, they just lower the old chicken brooders and turn 'em up full blast. Across the road from these buildings, there is a more modern steel building with more booths as well.

Oh, and I hit a pretty good pawn shop over in Tucker today....had forgotten it was there; haven't lived in that area in a while. It's on Lawrenceville Hwy, next to Krystal. Once I get my list, I'll report back on that....let's just say I picked up some off-brand, oddball USA stuff.... :)

Flea markets in my area advertise on Craigslist under garage sales. Also the Knights of Columbus here (2 different chapters) have monthly flea mafkets. I hit an auction house that had an estate sale of an old mechanic and could barely carry out my treasures. I just keep digging and find someplace to go weekly.

Tucker huh? I used to work in Tucker. I don't recall a pawns hop there, but that was 12 years ago!

I'll check it out. THANKS! I hope I don't step on your toes. I'll leave the Mac and Snap On stuff for you. I'm more into the vintage stuff anyway.
